Here is a superb little article written by early-years music teacher Vincent Iyengar of Education through Music Quality Music Schools. It presents as a compliment to the parents of his little students, but beneath the surface is a gentle but profound paean to all that is good in music pedagogy. Whether you are a parent or a teacher, read it!

I now have ONLY TWO SPACES LEFT on my summer course “Teaching musicianship through singing and movement” – which I will sell on a strictly first-paid-first-served basis.
If you are interested, NOW is the time to telephone me on 01932 363624 for my bank details! Here is the link to the full booking information:

If you are hesitating, have a read of what others have said recently about this course:

“You must try this. This is a unique and unbeatable approach to music teaching. It will transform your teaching forever and, quite possibly, how you view life, for the better.”
(Vincent Iyengar, Education through Music Quality Music Schools, Hampshire)

“Highly recommended – If you only do one training course this year, THIS is the one to do.”
(Len Tyler, Len Tyler Music School, Surrey)

“I have attended various courses during my professional working life and this one topped them all. A ‘must’ for anyone wishing to work in Early Years Music, it is meticulously planned with excellent classroom management and resource tips, as well as being thoroughly inspirational. Don’t let this opportunity pass - it transformed my teaching!” (Elizabeth Foulds, Queen Mary’s School, North Yorkshire)

“[Nikhil] is a complete one-off gem and holds himself to really high standards… None of this “online teaching” drivel, but REAL in-person teaching of music and movement with no compromises, which is increasingly rare, sadly! Now, he’s going to hate me for saying this but, whilst he’s fit as a fiddle, it’s also true that no human being is immune to the effects of ageing. So my message to you is this… if you are serious about musical fundamentals in young children then stop putting it off and get yourself down to his Summer School this year. Whilst I'm sure he'll be teaching into his eighties, I wouldn't risk missing out.” (Ed Jones, Ed's Music Classes, Berkshire)

SAVE £60 ON OUR SUMMER COURSE BY CATCHING THE EARLY-BIRD DEADLINE OF 27th MARCH!

You must admit, £60 is a proper discount, isn’t it? You could put that money to your travel, or your accommodation. (I have some suggestions I can share with you on the latter, including some free options!) This is a discount worth grabbing – and you have about a fortnight left to grab it!

It is also a course worth grabbing! It comes around rarely – and Nikhil is not getting any younger! Here are the full details:

https://steppingnotes.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/teacherscoursejuly2026.pdf

And here’s what some former participants are saying:

Elizabeth Foulds (Queen Mary’s School, North Yorkshire): "Enthusiasm together with creativity – both backed up by meticulous planning, resource suggestions, curriculum notes and just basic sound and practical advice. Wonderful!"

Rosalind Hoffler (ABRSM examiner): "Nikhil left me spellbound with his beguiling musicality and his amazing ability to communicate to us all. If you are in any way connected with training staff, this is the course they will truly benefit from: children and staff will undergo a musical transformation!"

Lucy Rutterford (play and creative arts therapist, Somerset): "By far the best training course I have attended. All of it was useful, fun and well presented and kept my concentration throughout. I’ve come away with lots of new ideas to try in my classes."

Eliza Wylie (Somerset Arts Well, Hop Skip and Sing, Singing Mamas): "Yes 🙌 if you only do one course this is it!"

So, what are you waiting for?! 😊 Here’s that link again:

Nikhil

09/03/2026

Notice how this little boy starts out rather confused. But at c. 20 seconds in he starts to pay attention, and to actually sing the song - whereupon he suddenly knows what to do. Singing gives accuracy to movement; just as movement gives depth to singing. They belong together.
