Fine motor development isn’t all about picking up a pencil and making marks! ✏️

Before children are ready to confidently write, they need to develop the muscle strength, coordination and control in their hands and fingers. 💪🤏

There are lots of fun ways we can support this development, from tracing shapes and outlines, cutting and tearing paper, to threading, squeezing, pinching, manipulating playdough and exploring different tools and materials. ✂️🧩🌈

These everyday experiences help children build the foundations they need for future writing skills, independence and hand-eye coordination — all through playful learning! 💜

Our children have loved exploring our new weighing scales and discovering all about weight, balance and comparison through hands-on play. 🥰

We used pinecones, mini pumpkins, pears and lots of other interesting items to see if we could balance the scales and investigate which objects were heavier or lighter. 🎃🍐🌰

It’s wonderful to see our children developing early mathematical skills, problem-solving and curiosity while having fun and exploring the world around them! 🔢✨
