📚✨ To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a sponsored read between Monday 20th April & Friday 24th April! 📅
In partnership with our local Usborne Partner, Laura Hall – The Little Book Nook, all funds raised will go towards brand new books for our school. For every £600 raised, Usborne will donate an extra £360 in FREE books! 🎉
Our target is £1000 in sponsorship money, which means a total of £1600 for new resources!
Encourage your child to read anything with words! Please return sponsor forms and money by Wednesday 29th April. Let’s enhance our reading resources together! 📖❤️

Our Lion Cub has arrived! Look at his cute chops! The children at school are currently in the process of putting together designs to paint the sculpture based on a nature theme as our lion cub will be part of the 'Pride of Yorkshire'.

We are still fundraising to officially 'adopt' our lion cub for Sheffield Children's Hospital. We are organising a raffle in March and are looking for businesses or organisations that would be able to donate a raffle prize/tickets/vouchers, etc. We would be very grateful for any assistance.

If you are able to help, please send an email to Sylvie Roux ([email protected])

Many thanks,
St. Mary's CE School (Walkley)

Y4's exciting visit from HSBC Future Coders

This week, Year 4 had an amazing visit from the HSBC Future Coders team! The children were introduced to the fascinating world of computing through a fun lesson on systems, networks, and computing basics. They shared their existing knowledge and experiences, which sparked lively discussions. The highlight of the day was the unplugged activities, where students engaged in hands-on learning without screens. It was a fantastic opportunity for our young learners to explore the fundamentals of technology in an interactive way. This was the first lesson of four and we can't wait to see what they learn in their next lessons!

On Tuesday, our whole school came together for a powerful assembly to remember Holocaust Memorial Day. We reflected on the past and discussed the importance of standing against hatred today. It was a meaningful time for everyone to learn and remember.

+ Before and After School Care +

At St Mary's we provide outstanding wrap around care so that children, if needed, can be cared for by adults in school all day.

Extra- Curricular Clubs

Each term, staff in school run a range extra-curricular clubs to develop children's passion for different subjects. Club that run regularly include netball, choir, STEM, computing and gymnastics. We also have a range of sports clubs run by coaches from Arches. All of our Extra-Curricular clubs are free to attend and run from 3:15-4:15.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club is the perfect way to start the day. It offers quieter activities which include arts and crafts, puzzles, toys, board games and computer games. We also provide a healthy breakfast which consists of things such as toast, cereal, fruit and juice. Our breakfast club is staffed by wonderful members of staff who are DBS checked, first aid trained and who are seen by the children throughout the day. Breakfast Club opens at 7:30am and children are taken to their classrooms, by staff, at 8:40am. The cost of Breakfast Club is £3.50.

After School Club

After school club offers a fun and educational way to end the day. Children can play with a range of friends or chose from a wide range of activities such as games, sports and more. Each day they will be given a snack. Examples of the snacks we have on offer include: sandwiches, noodles, fruit/veg, pasta, pizza and the children even do some baking! The After School Club costs £5.50 for a part session, or £8 for a full session. The club closes at 6pm.
