From 19–21 June, Louise Rossiter will cycle from Leicester to Leeds via Sheffield in memory of her father, who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in January 2023 🚴
Following his diagnosis, Louise's father generously donated his brain and spinal cord to researchers at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN), helping advance vital research into a disease that currently has no cure. Louise's incredible journey will conclude on World MND Day, Father's Day, and her 40th birthday – celebrating her father's legacy, and lasting impact.

Did you know football as we know it might not exist without Sheffield? ⚽
In 1857, Sir Nathaniel Creswick and William Prest helped organise the game that led to the world’s first football club—Sheffield FC. Shortly afterwards, they went on to draft a set of rules that were later published in 1859, helping to shape the early development of the modern game.

"Premature babies are incredibly vulnerable, and improving how we understand and treat their lung development could transform outcomes for so many families. Knowing that progress is being made in this area and that it could spare other parents some of that uncertainty is incredibly motivating and I’ll be thinking of that as I’m struggling on for the last few miles."
Sheffield alumna and mother of two, Laura, will be taking on the Big Walk this June to support research that could give countless children with respiratory conditions a better chance in life.
