One of the things I love about doing bespoke classes is that I never quite know what we're going to do. Yesterday, we were making alterations to make a shop bought skirt fit better.
It took longer than we expected as the skirt was such good quality and beautifully made. We'll worth the effort.

You may have noticed I've been getting quite a number of children through the studio. This seemed to be the perfect time to address one of the questions I get asked:
"Do you offer a discounted rate for children in the Beginners Sewing Class?"
Here is a breakdown of why our pricing is equal for all age groups:
Same Class Time & Value: Children receive the exact same course duration and dedicated studio hours as our adult students.
Already Discounted: The Beginners course is sold as a block booking, which means the rate per hour is already heavily discounted compared to single drop-in sessions.
Hands-On & Specialised Guidance: Teaching young sewists requires a unique approach! Working with sewing machines, irons, fabric scissors/rotary cutters, and pins means children need higher supervision, step-by-step guidance, and extra patience to build their confidence safely.
Same Resources & Equipment: Kids use the exact same full-sized sewing machines, tools, and studio equipment as adults.
We absolutely l as we do our adult students.
I absolutely love watching young learners discover the joy of sewing and create their very first projects! I happily give them just as much time, energy, and expertise into teaching them as I do our adult students.

So my inspiration from last week's Sewing Bee was sewing knickers. I've got quite a bit of love cotton Jersey to make tops and t shirts, so with the leftovers, I thought I could make knickers! Some pretty lace arrived yesterday, so I can have lots of practice.
Studio today, and I'll get to meet two new students. Hooe, your day will be as much fun as mine

Sewing, especially quilting, is my world. It is part of who I am and I can’t imagine a time without sewing.
As well as bringing me joy, calm and satisfaction, I know the finished handmade item will also bring pleasure, enjoyment and comfort, it’s win win.

Garment making doesn’t have to start with a complicated paper pattern!
For so many people, reading commercial patterns can feel like trying to decipher a foreign language. It’s one of the biggest hurdles that stops people from making their own clothes—and I want to change that!
There is something intensely satisfying about creating a garment using your very own measurements. No confusing symbols, no rigid fitting rules—just simple math, beautiful fabric, and a fit tailored uniquely to you.
That’s exactly why I fell in love with teaching the Wrap Skirt Class!
You may remember a few weeks ago, I ran a private lesson for a 13-year-old who wanted to sew her first real garment. We drafted it straight from her measurements, and she did so well! Watching her walk away with a gorgeous, self-made skirt—and sky-high confidence—reminded me why this project is so special.
Whether you're 13 or 83, a complete beginner or looking for a stress-free sew, the wrap skirt is:
-Child & adult-friendly
-Totally beginner-approved
-Guaranteed to give you fabulous results!
We now offer this as a class in the studio—and for those of you further afield, an online version will be available very soon!

Another pair of trousers it's not really cost me anything to make. Very light and airy for the present climate we are living in. I'm so happy to have found a pattern I like and is so versatile that I can make it in a variety of fabrics.
I'll do a blog post with all the details so you can add it to your make list

Did I dress the boys in matching clothes? Never!
Did I dress them to match their dad or me? Never!
Become a Gamgam, and me and the boy can twin!
