🌟 EYFS Tip of the Week 🌟✨ Literacy Made Fun & Magical ✨
📚 Did you know that daily storytime is one of the most powerful ways to boost your child’s language, imagination, and love for reading? 💡 Even just 10 minutes a day can spark a lifetime of learning!
Here are simple, fun ways to grow your little one’s literacy skills at home:
🔤 Letter Sounds PlayMake it a game! Clap, sing, or find objects around the house that start with the same sound. Example: “S” for spoon, sock, sofa!
📖 Point & Read TogetherWhen reading, point to each word. Children begin to understand that words carry meaning and flow from left to right.
🎭 Pretend ReadingEncourage your child to tell the story in their own words by looking at the pictures. This builds confidence, memory, and storytelling skills.
🎶 Rhymes & SongsSinging nursery rhymes and silly songs helps children hear patterns in words, which is the first step to reading success.
💡 Parent Tip: Don’t worry if your child isn’t reading yet EYFS is about exposure, play, and curiosity. Every giggle, every “made up story,” and every rhyming game is helping their brain grow! 🌈
❤️ Praise their efforts, no matter how small. A little encouragement goes a long way in building a confident young reader.

🌟 EYFS Tip of the Week 🌟 Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED)
Helping children grow in their personal, social, and emotional development is at the heart of the EYFS. These early skills lay the foundation for confidence, resilience, and healthy relationships later in life. 💕
Here’s how you can support your child’s PSED at home:
✨ Sharing & Turn-Taking
* Play simple games that require waiting for a turn (like board games or rolling a ball).
* Model patience yourself children learn best when they see you doing it.
✨ Managing Feelings
* Acknowledge your child’s emotions “I can see you’re upset because your toy broke”).
* Teach calming strategies such as deep breaths, hugs, or a “quiet corner.”
✨ Building Confidence & Self-Esteem
* Celebrate small acts of kindness 🌈 like helping a sibling or tidying up toys.
* Use positive phrases: “You tried so hard,”I’m proud of your effort,” instead of just the outcome.
✨ Encouraging Friendships
* Organise playdates or group activities where your child can learn to negotiate, share, and build trust.
* Read stories about friendship and talk about what makes a “good friend.”
🌸 Remember: Praising kindness, encouraging empathy, and giving children space to express their feelings helps them feel valued and understood. This builds a strong foundation for lifelong wellbeing. 🌟
💬 Parent Tip: Next time your child shows kindness, even something small, like passing a toy, pause and acknowledge it. Your words can make them shine with pride! ✨

EYFS Tip of the Week ✨Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Supporting your child’s personal, social & emotional growth lays the foundation for lifelong confidence and positive relationships 🌟. Here are simple ways parents can encourage this at home:
💖 Praise KindnessCelebrate small acts like sharing toys, offering help, or comforting a friend. This boosts self-esteem and shows that kindness matters.
🤝 Practice Turn-TakingUse everyday routines, like waiting to speak at the dinner table or taking turns during a game to teach patience and fairness.
😊 Name FeelingsHelp children understand emotions by naming them: “I see you’re sad,” or “You look really excited.” This helps them manage and express feelings in healthy ways.
🌈 Model Positive BehaviourChildren copy what they see. Show respect, say “please” and “thank you,” and they’ll do the same.
🧸 Create Safe SpacesOffer reassurance when your child feels overwhelmed. A cuddle, quiet time, or listening ear helps them feel secure and valued.
👉 Remember: Building social and emotional skills isn’t a one time lesson, it’s daily, gentle guidance that helps children grow into confident, caring individuals 💕. Follow Early Years for more weekly EYFS tips to support your child’s learning and development 🌟
