Congratulations to Megan on becoming our staff member of the month this month. She has come back to work and has really settled back into nursery life. The children adore her.

One of our Favourite stories here in nursery is the very hungry caterpillar. We love this story as it brings so many opportunities to expand the children language, you can talk about many different things like the days of the weeks, the food the caterpillar eats as well as the comparison in sizes.

here are a few activities you could do along side this story at home:
* Food tasting session - trying the food in which the caterpillar eats on his journey, talking about the textures and taste.
* Painting your own beautiful butterfly - talking about colours and the patterns used to make the butterfly
* Movement activity - moving like a caterpillar or fluttering like a butterfly.

Today marks the start of national story telling week, during this week here in nursery we will be reading lots of our favourite stories together and using our imaginations to replay these stories in our play.

Today the children have been celebrating Chinese new year. They had a little tasting session of some lovely Chinese food cooked by our wonderful Tracy.

Happy Chinese new year, this year is the year of the wood snake.

The Year of the Wood Snake begins today, 29th January, the first day of the Chinese New Year 2025. This is also know as the spring festival. This is celebrated with great enthusiasm and one of the most important celebration in China. People celebrate this festival with their family members, friends and relatives and they spend a quality time with each other, giving gifts, red paper cutting .

2025's Year of the Wood Snake is a year of development, reflection, and perfection. This year represents chances to develop both professionally and personally while creating deep connections because of its emphasis on relationships and transformation. A profitable and peaceful year might result from embracing the Snake's knowledge and adaptability along with the Wood element's nurturing energy.

Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. The word 'Hanukkah' means 'Dedication' in Hebrew. It celebrates a miracle that happened in Jerusalem over 2,000 years ago. Hanukkah (or Chanukah in Hebrew) is celebrated in November or December every year. It lasts for eight days. Hanukkah begins on the evening of Wednesday 25 December. It is celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting as well as playing dreidel, singing songs and preparing delicious food. It is a fun time for children, as they will receive gifts and Hanukkah money called gelt.
