All the children in Year 3 have started learning about instruction writing in English.

They made fruit skewers by following a set of verbal instructions.

They all had a great time and enjoyed eating their skewers afterwards.

Over the last couple of weeks, Year 1 has been learning about animal diets in science.

We explored the vocabulary 'carnivore', 'herbivore' and 'omnivore'.

Then we became tooth detectives.

We looked closely at the shapes and sizes of different animals’ teeth.

We used our observations to help us work out what each animal might eat.

This term, we have introduced ERIC (Everyone Reading in Class) time once a day.

During ERIC time, each table in the classroom enjoys a different activity, from reading with the teacher to investigating books from the library.

Every Wednesday children in Key Stage 1 and 2 attend our 'One World, Many Voices' assemblies. In these assemblies we learn about the nine protected characteristics and British values to celebrate our diverse school community.

The PTA have donated some fund for us to link these assemblies to interesting books that we read each week.

The Year 3 and 4 Reading Champions said: “Every day we swap! It's a great time to read and relax."

The Year 5 and 6 Reading Champions said: "This week, in our One World Many Voices assembly, we read 'Lost in Translation'.

“This compendium celebrates words that can't be translated into English such as Gurfa, the Arabic word that means 'the amount of water that can be held in one hand'. We had a lot of fun trying to pronounce them. Do you know any words in your language like this?"

On Wednesday, in Anns Grove Primary School’s 'One World, Many Voices' assembly, we celebrated the European Week of Languages.

Pupils had the opportunity to share the languages they speak at home, and we learnt some untranslatable words featured in the book 'Lost in Translation'.

Well done to our Year 2, Class Zebras, who this week have won our attendance trophy for having the best class attendance, an amazing 98.6%.

Year 1 had great fun learning about Florence Nightingale and how she improved hygiene in hospitals to help patients get better.

We explored how germs can spread easily when we don't wash our hands and had lots of fun seeing this for ourselves.

We discovered that soap and water help to wash the germs away, showing just how important good handwashing is.

Our pupils have been drawing Theo, Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s mascot, for this year’s Young Creatives exhibition.

Swipe to see some brilliant entries.

The exhibition will also showcase 20 original artworks created by secondary pupils from across Mercia Learning Trust, which will be available to bid on in an online auction.

Families can also enjoy lino printing activities during the weekend.

All proceeds from the auction will support Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
