Bulgaria's loses nearly BGN 3 billion per year due to unpaid taxes and insurance due to undeclared employment, said Tuesday Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) Executive Director Dobrin Ivanov, quoted in a BICA press release. Ivanov participated in an information session of the European Labour Authority on the topic "Employers' Awareness - a way to prevent undeclared work".

Transitions to Formality - Perspectives from Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean

This webinar, co-organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) will present ESCAP’s report on Policy approaches to formalizing informal employment in the formal sector in Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and ILO’s report on Integrated Approaches for Formalization in Asia and the Pacific: A Policy Brief. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion among experts and policymakers from Asia and the Pacific and Latin American and the Caribbean. The discussion will be centered around policy approaches from countries in both regions to support the transition to formalization. In addition to exploring entry points for the operalization of an integrated approach to formalization, including formalization of informal employment in the formal sector, the event will serve as a platform for south-south cooperation and peer learning between countries in Asia and the Pacific and Latin America, showcasing good practices and lessons learned from both regions.
