πͺ΄πOla's Memorial Garden ππͺ΄
As many of you are aware, we sadly lost Ola in February. Ola was a longstanding and much-loved member of the Watoto team, and she is greatly missed by both staff and children.
Outside of work, Ola was always keeping herself busy and took great pride in her own allotment and love of gardening. In her memory, we have created a special memorial area in our garden where children, staff, and families can take a moment to visit, reflect, and remember Ola.
Here are two of our children who took part in creating this beautiful memorial. Their care and creativity helped make it a very special place to honour and remember Ola.
We hope this space serves as a lasting tribute to her and the positive impact she had on everyone at Watoto. π

π Important Heatwave Guidance for Parents/Carers π
With the hot weather expected, please help us keep all children safe and comfortable by following these important guidelines:
βοΈ Sun Cream β All children must have sun cream applied before arriving. Please also provide bottle of sun cream, clearly labelled with your childβs name, so it can be reapplied throughout the day.
π§’ Sun Hat β All children must attend preschool wearing or bringing a hat.
π Weather Appropriate Clothing β Please ensure your child wears lightweight, cool, and weather-appropriate clothing suitable for hot temperatures.
π§ Hydration β Water bottles are not required, as we have water stations available throughout the preschool and will encourage children to drink regularly to stay hydrated.
π Spare Clothes β We recommend sending a spare set of clothes, as children may take part in messy play and water-based activities.
β Important: If these guidelines are not followed, your child will not be able to attend the preschool for that day.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.

π«§π½οΈ Learning About Hygiene Through Play π½οΈπ«§
Last week, the children enjoyed washing pots and pans in our messy-play area, developing their understanding of hygiene and why it is important to keep things clean. Through this hands-on activity, they explored real-life routines, practised caring for their environment, and built their independence skills.
This experience supported:
β¨ Understanding the importance of cleanliness and hygiene
β¨ Developing independence and responsibility
β¨ Strengthening fine motor skills through washing and scrubbing
β¨ Encouraging communication and language through discussions about keeping things clean
Learning through meaningful play helps children make connections between everyday experiences and the world around them.

π₯π± National Eat Your Vegetables Day! π±π₯
Today is National Eat Your Vegetables Day, and our children have spent the past few weeks learning all about where vegetables come from by planting their own bulbs and seeds. πΏ
Through hands-on gardening experiences, the children are developing their understanding of nature, healthy eating, and the importance of caring for living things. They have loved getting their hands dirty, nurturing their plants, and discovering more about the vegetables they see every day.
These experiences help children make meaningful connections between growing food and the healthy choices we make. π₯π₯¬π±
We cannot wait to watch our vegetables grow over the coming weeks and see all of the children's hard work flourish! π

ππ¦ Splashing and Exploring Leaves! π¦π
Our Sunflower Room has been having lots of fun exploring leaves in the water tray! They enjoyed touching, splashing, squeezing, and looking closely at the different leaves, discovering how they feel and move in the water.
As part of our plant topic, we talked about the leaves growing on the plants we have been looking after. The babies were encouraged to use simple words such as "big," "small," "soft," and "crunchy" as they explored.
