🌈 Feature Focus: Rainbow Room – Over 3s 🌈

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on our Rainbow Room, our welcoming and engaging space for children aged 3 years and over! 💜

In Rainbow Room, we encourage children to play, explore, create and grow in confidence, with lots of opportunities to develop their independence, build friendships and follow their own interests.

Our practitioners provide a range of engaging experiences throughout the day, supporting children’s communication, creativity, physical development, problem-solving and social skills while helping prepare them for the next stage of their learning journey. ✨

🌿 We’re Hiring – Early Years Team Leader

Watoto Preschool, in Sheffield, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Team Leader to lead a designated room and support our early years team.
We’re looking for someone who:
⭐ Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
⭐ Has at least two years’ early years experience
⭐ Can lead, motivate and support colleagues
⭐ Has strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding
⭐ Is committed to helping every child learn, develop and flourish

We offer ongoing training, wellbeing support, staff recognition and opportunities for career development.

💛 Behind every happy child is a supported team! 💛

Before reopening our doors after the summer holidays, our team came together for two dedicated staff training days, making sure we were ready to welcome all our children and families back to Watoto. 🌈

📚 Day One – Preparing for the New Term
Our first day focused on refreshing our knowledge, preparing our environments and making sure the whole team felt confident and ready for the term ahead.

🌿 Day Two – Staff Wellbeing & Team Building
We welcomed Becca from The no BS therapist: Becca Upton who conducted a wellbeing workshop, exploring burnout, managing our wellbeing, breathing techniques and grounding exercises.

We then spent the afternoon taking part in some fun team-building activities. With new members joining Watoto, it was a lovely opportunity to get to know one another, work together in smaller teams and strengthen relationships. 💜

At Watoto, investing in our staff is just as important as investing in our children. When our team feels supported, connected and valued, we can give our children the very best start. 🌱

In collaboration with Byron Wood School, we offere before and after school care for children aged 3–8 years.

🥣 Before School Care (from 8am )– Start the day with a healthy breakfast before we safely es**rt children to Byron Wood School.
🎨 After School Care (until 6pm) – We collect children from school for a relaxed, fun afternoon with engaging activities until home time.

💡Settling In & Separation Anxiety

Starting pre-school is a big step – for little ones AND their grown-ups! 💜

It’s completely normal for some children to need a little extra time and reassurance while they adjust to a new environment, routine and people.

☀ At Watoto, we take settling in at each child's individual pace. Our practitioners spend time building relationships, learning children's routines and interests, offering reassurance and helping them become familiar with their new environment.

Most importantly, we work in partnership with you. You know your child best, so keeping communication open between home and pre-school can make a big difference.

If you have any questions or require support, please speak to a member of our team and drop off or collection.

🌞 Important Heatwave Guidance for Parents/Carers 🌞

With the hot weather expected, please help us keep all children safe and comfortable by following these important guidelines:

☀️ Sun Cream – All children must have sun cream applied before arriving. Please also provide bottle of sun cream, clearly labelled with your child’s name, so it can be reapplied throughout the day.

🧢 Sun Hat – All children must attend preschool wearing or bringing a hat.

👕 Weather Appropriate Clothing – Please ensure your child wears lightweight, cool, and weather-appropriate clothing suitable for hot temperatures.

💧 Hydration – Water bottles are not required, as we have water stations available throughout the preschool and will encourage children to drink regularly to stay hydrated.

👕 Spare Clothes – We recommend sending a spare set of clothes, as children may take part in messy play and water-based activities.

❗ Important: If these guidelines are not followed, your child will not be able to attend the preschool for that day.
