Dear all,

Since COVID-19 reached the UK, the SheffMUN Secretariat and I have maintained that SheffMUN 2020 will only run if safe, in line with University and Government Guidelines. The Secretariat remained steadfast in its commitment to hold SheffMUN 2020 in December this year, with all measures taken to ensure the safety of delegates, chairs and conference organisers throughout.

Recently, however, we were informed that our Studens' Union and University deemed it unsafe to host any events before Christmas 2020. Therefore, with regret, we must postpone SheffMUN 2020 until 2021 (date TBC). This decision is not one we have taken lightly, and we would like to offer our profuse apologies to those who have already committed to attending this year's conference, delegates and chairs alike.

As outlined when purchasing SheffMUN tickets and passes, should COVID-19 make the conference untennable, we will offer full refunds to all who have purchased delegate and social tickets. That is now upon us, and our secretariat will be reaching out to ticket holders to facilitate those refunds.

As the cliché now goes, we truly are living in unprecedented times, but the Secretariat and I hope that once the COVID-19 situation is behind us, we can host you all in the wonderful city of Sheffield!

Delegate applications are NOW OPEN for SheffMUN's unique United States of Europe Committee (USEC), chaired by the wonderfully enthusiastic pair Karim ElShorbagi and Kyriakos Chatziefthymiadis.

Global Change: Risks, Responses and Reponsibilities is the conference theme, and the UK's decision to leave the EU in 2016, their eventual departure and growing Euroscepticism across the bloc is emblematic of this change.

Across the three-day conference, delegates representing the EU-27 will discuss the (con)federalisation of the European Union, debating topics such as (but not limited to) culture, sovereignty, currency and identity. Expect a fiery, competitive debate between the EU-27! Will they leave as disenfranchised, diametrically-opposed delegations, or will they rise to an emboldened United States of Europe?

You can answer that question at SheffMUN 2020 (11th-13th December 2020).
