Martin, a St Hild student, did not grow up expecting to become a minister. In fact, he came to Christian faith at the age of 47. Today, he is married to Valerie, serving in Baptist ministry, and helping lead a season of growth and renewal in a local church. It’s been another great Formation Day at Whirlow Spirituality Centre for our Baptist ministers in training. Today we explored the theme “Slow Wisdom and Discerning the Mind of Christ”, inviting space for attentiveness, prayerful listening, and faithful discernment in ministry.

We’re grateful to Revd Dr Ruth Moriarty for her generous and insightful contribution, helping us engage deeply with wisdom that is formed over time, in community, and in Christ.

Great to meet old friends and new at the 2026 assembly in Harrogate. We were privileged to welcome several dozen new ministers having reached their accreditation all across the UK, plus we marked the passing and faithful service of others.
We began a shared conversation about our purpose in mission, and we welcomed as our new president for the coming year.
We also had a really great chats with people considering whether Baptist Ministry is for them: we love that kind of conversation do get in touch if that’s you.

We've been exploring the theme “Growing CYF Work in the Church & Community”, with rich input and encouragement from Jodie Thorpe and Jonny Hirst. A day full of learning, reflection, and vision for nurturing children, young people, and families.
