Retrocalacneal bursas are bit like buses 🚌! We haven't injected one in ages and have had 3 in the last 2 weeks.
It is important to note that we didn't jump straight to injection with these patients, they all had symptom management and optimal loading rehab before considering an injection. Unfortunately their pain was the limiting factor to their rehab and recovery.
I'd be interested on peoples thoughts. Do you put the patients in a boot or not following a retrocalcaneal injection?

Even if you're not using PRP, it's not a bad idea to have enough knowledge to field questions and advise patients. We'll be posting a little series on PRP over the next couple of weeks including the latest on physios using it.
How does PRP help with healing?
PRP is a from of regenerative medicine. But how does PRP help with healing? Johnny puts his geeky biochemistry hat on to answer this one.

Last week we posted about aspirating a Bakers cyst. We are big advocates of aspiration (under US guidance of course!) and it is now common practice in our clinic. Does aspiration deserves a re-visit in your injection therapy practice?
Aspiration - why, when and what
We answer why aspiration (or arthrocentesis) is necessary, when it should be considered and what the benefits are for patients.

It has been Bakers cyst central this week in our injection clinics! I am always impressed with how much symptomatic relief patients experience after aspirating Bakers cysts (& injection therapy to the knee joint). Do check our latest blog on Bakers cysts below and be sure to watch the video of this aspiration in the reel.
