As building safety standards continue to evolve, proving installer competence has never been more important.
Developed in response to the building safety reforms that followed the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the NOCN Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Rainscreen Faรงade Systems (Construction) has been introduced to help formalise competence across the installation of life-critical faรงade systems.
Designed for experienced rainscreen faรงade installers, this qualification helps evidence the skills, knowledge and competence needed to carry out installations safely, correctly and in line with current regulatory expectations.
For workers currently holding a Green Labourer card, a non-relevant CSCS card, or those looking to progress into a recognised skilled worker route, this qualification can support progression towards the appropriate Blue Skilled Worker CSCS card, where eligibility requirements are met.
For contractors working across cladding remediation, faรงade installation and building envelope projects, this is a timely opportunity to support your teams, evidence competence and stay aligned with the direction of UK building safety reform.

Weโre proud to be working alongside GRAHAM Group, Manchester City Council and Latimer by Clarion Housing Group as part of the CRE8 programme at the Brewery Gardens scheme in Manchester, connected through our ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐๐ต๐๐ฟ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ฒ and Greater Manchester Skills Academy.
Recently, nine enthusiastic learners joined a pre-programme site visit, giving them a first-hand look at life on a live construction site before progressing towards work experience. Since then, six learners have been selected for placement, each supported through CV preparation, interview guidance, site-readiness checks, documentation support and PPE.
Some have progressed through our academy provision with CSCS. Others have completed our Civil Engineering and Groundworks Skills Bootcamp, gaining CSCS and NPORS qualifications, including Forward Tipping Dumper and Banksman licences.
This is exactly why training matters. Not training for trainingโs sake, but training with a doorway at the end of it.
A huge thank you to Louise Seddon, Chris Bennett, Keiron D and Dawn Lomas at GRAHAM Group for creating a pathway that gives local people a genuine opportunity to step onto site, build their confidence and move closer to sustained employment, Matt Doran and Gary Lamb at Manchester City Council, for their continued support, and Lloyd Kingston, our Manchester Skills Academy Manager and Joanne Gillard, Business Development Manager for the North, for helping to make this opportunity possible.
Weโd also like to extend a big thank you to Joanne Fisher from Chroda FM, Rachel Kirkham at Falcon Green, Paulina Szczygielska at OโNeill & Brennan UK and Jasmine Marshall from Linsco Ltd.
Weโre proud to play our part. Building new partnerships across Greater Manchester that will help open more doors for local people and support them into meaningful opportunities. ๐ฆบ

Imagine if we treated fitness the same way some people treat educationโฆ
โSorry, youโre 40 now. You missed your chance to get fit at 18.โ
Sounds ridiculous, doesnโt it?
Yet when it comes to learning, people tell themselves things like:
โIโm too old to retrain.โ
โItโs too late to get qualified.โ
โIโve missed my opportunity.โ
But education doesnโt come with an expiry date.
Every week, we meet people taking their first steps into construction, gaining qualifications, changing careers, returning to work, or building on years of experience.
Some are 19.
Some are 49.
What they have in common isnโt age.
Itโs the decision to start.
At the Skills People Group, weโve seen so many success stories begin with one simple shift:
โToo lateโ stopped being the excuse.
Whether someone is gaining a qualification, learning a new skill, or building a better future, the first step is still available.
Whatโs the best thing youโve learned later in life?
