Our rooms have had so much fun creating and painting flags and shirts to decorate our shelter area, all in preparation for the World Cup! ⚽🌍
The children enjoyed learning about the different flags and countries taking part in the tournament, and of course discussing whether England will bring it home this year! (We think they just might!) 🏆
To celebrate the many cultures represented at the World Cup, we'll also be hosting a weekly World Cup Day. Our staff team has created a fantastic menu (see photo) that will give the children the opportunity to experience traditional foods from two of the countries playing on that day.
Our first World Cup Day will feature England vs Ghana next Tuesday! 🇬🇧🇬🇭
At The Little School House, we love celebrating different cultures and countries, and the World Cup provides the perfect opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun together!

Here at The Little School House we are proud of the diversity of the community we serve, & of all the different languages that are spoken within our setting.
Children enjoy learning words & phrases in different languages, learning about different countries, religions & festivals.
This month we are focusing on GERMAN.
If you speak German & are able to share any stories, music, newspapers, fabrics, clothing, currency or pictures to further enrich our environment, they would be gratefully received. In addition, if you have any information about your language, or your family’s heritage that you’d like to share, please speak to one of the team; we would love to pass this on within the setting.
Thank you in advance.

🌍♻️ Exciting New Sustainability Initiatives at Nursery! ♻️🌍
Dear Parents & Carers,
As part of our Climate Action Plan, we’re excited to introduce some new ways we can work together to create a more sustainable nursery community 💚
👕 Clothing Swap Shop
Got clothes your child has outgrown? Bring them along! Pop any good-quality pre-loved items into the metal container in our main entrance porch labelled “Clothing Swap Shop.”
Families are welcome to browse the clothing rail and swap items to take home. Together, we can:
✅ Reduce waste
✅ Recycle and reuse clothing
✅ Build up spare nursery clothing supplies
✅ Support families with access to pre-loved items
🌿 Recycled Loose Parts
You’ll also spot our “Recycled Loose Parts” container! If you have any natural or unused materials at home, we’d love to give them a new purpose in nursery play and learning.
Ideas include:
🍂 Pinecones
🪵 Wooden items
🪨 Pebbles
🌱 Natural materials
🏠 Safe household items for creative play
By reusing resources, we can reduce waste and provide more natural, open-ended learning experiences for our children.
📚 Lending Library Reminder
Don’t forget our Lending Library in the nursery hallway! Families are welcome to borrow books to enjoy at home and return when finished - just ask a staff member!
Have books to donate? We’d love to receive them so other families can enjoy them too ❤️
Thank you for your continued support in helping us build a greener, more environmentally friendly nursery community 🌎

🌍✨ Here at The Little School House, we love celebrating the many different cultures and heritages within our nursery family. Today, our Toddler Room celebrated National St Helena’s Day! 🇸🇭
St Helena is a beautiful small island located in the South Atlantic Ocean, and we had so much fun learning all about it throughout the day. At group time, we talked about the island and its history, enjoyed tasting some local foods at snack time, read a wonderful story by a local author, and explored the amazing animals that can be found there. 🐢📚🍍
It has been such a fun and educational experience, and we’re proud to encourage the celebration of different cultures and heritages within our nursery community — we’ve all learnt so much! 💛
If your family has a heritage or culture you would like us to celebrate with you, please let us know — we’d love to learn more together! 🌎✨

This week in the Toddler room we took a trip out to Heeley City Farm. We had an exciting bus journey to the farm where we got to see lots of different animals. While at the farm we got to enjoy a lovely picnic in the sunshine before having a walk to a near by park. We got the bus back to nursery where we enjoyed snack and some calming sensory time.
