One of the most common questions I get asked when I'm delivering training; "Can you make good money as an Energy Assessor or Retrofit Assessor?". The honest answer? Some do. Many don't.

Getting qualified is the easy part, the real challenge starts afterwards. Finding consistent work, building relationships, marketing yourself, managing costs, and competing in a market where EPC fees have often been driven down to the point where making a decent living isn't straightforward.
That's the reality.

The assessors who seem to be doing well are usually doing more than EPCs alone. They're combining services, working within retrofit projects, building commercial clients, creating partnerships, and treating it as a business rather than simply carrying out assessments.

But how much are people really earning?
What challenges are they facing?
And what does it actually take to make this career worthwhile in 2026?

That's what I want to explore.

I'm launching a new podcast where I'll be speaking with Energy Assessors, Retrofit Assessors, Coordinators, business owners, and others working across the industry.
