What an incredible week we have had in Busy Bees! This week we have been focusing on travel and holidays. We've had so much fun talking about each child's past experiences and where they are going on holiday this year. In order to really demonstrate the process of going through an airport we transformed the room into our very own Handsworth Airlineโœˆ๏ธ

Each child was suited and booted with their very own passport, boarding pass and bag. This experience showed the children just what to expect when they go to the airport and how to walk through correctly. The staff got into character and loved it just as much as the children! Our destination of choice was Mexico๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ

After the children had been checked in, dropped their bags off and been through security they took their seats on the plane where the airline staff demonstrated the safety measures and protocols on what to do in the case of an emergency. The children also enjoyed a complementary snack courtesy of handsworth airlines to give them a little taste of what to expect when reaching Mexico. This activity has been incredible and has really helped the children to develop their knowledge of the world around them holistically. Large scale role play such as this helps us with our cultural capital as this activity can be so important for opening up conversations and showing children what to expect if they haven't been to an airport before.

Activities around the room have focused on this same topic as we have created an airport tuff spot among a cultural game within maths. This week has been a blast! Next week we with be exploring fantasy and focusing more on transitions to help us with moving into school.
See you next week Busy Bees๐Ÿ

Groovy Grasshopper's ๐Ÿฆ—

Next term we are looking at transport ๐Ÿš‚ ๐Ÿš—

In the construction area we have a car garage. ๐Ÿš— We will be looking at prepositions such as under, next to,I front and behind, encouraging the children to use these during their imaginative play.

In the water tray we have a mini car wash, encouraging the children to use tooth brushes to develop their fine manipulative skills in preparation for pencil control. ๐Ÿ’ฆ

In the creative area we are making traffic lights vans talking about road safety. We will be linking the colours accordingly such as red for stop, green for go and amber for get ready.๐Ÿšฆ

In the maths area we are playing a transport shape matching game, encouraging shape recognition ๐ŸšŒ

In our tuff spot we have numbered tunnels, supporting number recognition and discussing prepositions, supporting their maths language โž—

In the funky fingers area, we have vehicles and play dough, encouraging the children to mark make ๐Ÿš—

We have new additions to our outdoor area which allows the children to explore natural resources in our mud kitchen and develop their gross motor skills on our climbing frame and slide ๐Ÿชœ ๐ŸŒด

At home, please can we ask parents to encourage their child to follow our carpet time rules which are, good sitting, good looking and good listening ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

We look forward to welcoming our Grasshopper's back before it's transition time for summer ๐ŸŒž

Happy Friday everyone

Our last week of term has been filled with looking after our environment, looking at ocean pollution and how conservation works for endangered animals in our zoos.๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ“

The highlight of the week was a visit from Buster the tortoise, children discussed how his shell felt , what did he eat, and where do tortoises come from. ๐Ÿข

We also made crabs, jelly fish as our art activities ๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿฆ€

At group time , we spoke about pollution especially leaving litter around on the beach , the children articulated their own thoughts and feelings of the effect it could cause to our sealife .๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ

The children took part in litter picking in our own garden, to ensure wildlife wouldn't be affected if they picked anything up from our garden. They also re cycled plastic, food waste and cardboard into tubs , enforcing how we recycle.โ™ป๏ธโ™ป๏ธ

Our stories of the week

The life of a plastic bottle

The life of a cardboard box

Lots of learning this week , made fun by exciting activities ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Knowledge and understanding of the world.- looking after the world around us

Communication language - sharing thoughts and ideas

Personal, social, emotional development - talking about feelings

Physical development -sensory exploration

We hope you have a lovely half term and can't wait to hear all about what you get up too.

Last week our Baby Butterflies enjoyed a mixture of focused activities with our staff โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

In the Baby Butterflies we will not be following topics for planning anymore instead we will.....

Babies will be incorporating more spontaneous activities into their daily routine, reflecting more on their curriculum when supporting learning and development milestones.
More attention will be paid to reaching development milestones appropriate for ages and stages of development, working on strengthening fine and gross motor skills, nurturing their curiosity and fostering simple independence skills.

The Groovy Grasshopper's have had another great week, they have loved exploring 'under the sea!'

This week the children have spent lots of time outdoors in the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ The children really enjoyed the spontaneous activity of washing the vehicles outside, we used our gross motor skils and imagination to have our own 'car wash!' ๐Ÿงฝ We also made our own ball shoots, we loved making tracks and ways which the ball could roll, it was great to see the children work together and problem solve ๐Ÿ€

We have really enjoyed exploring the pirate ship in the tuff tray ๐Ÿšข We have enjoyed making marks using our fine motor skills! The children have also really enjoyed dressing up as pirates using their imagination for role play!

The children have particularly enjoyed the octopus game, we have been practicing counting 1-5 before pressing the octopus! ๐Ÿ™

Next week we will continue to explore 'under the sea', โ›ต

We have had another lovely week in Busy Bees. The sun has had his hat on this week so we have spent plenty of time in the garden we have found some many mini beasts in the garden which the children have loved to look at and hold. Allowing children to see these creatures up close develops their understanding of the world around them as they investigate how different things look up close.

We have been following on with our topic surrounding farm animals and have created some beautiful sheep pictures. Utilising not only creative materials but natural resources such as grass and flowers. This opened up plenty of conversations about where sheep live and what they eat again developing their understanding of the world around them. Allowing the children to cut their own materials helps to strengthen crucial muscles in the hands required for early writingโœ๐Ÿฝ

After a crazy day in preschool we had a meditative session where the children laid down and focused on their breathing while listening to calm music. This helped the children to self regulate and rest after a busy day๐Ÿ’ค

To finish off the week we created nature bracelets getting the children to pick different materials to stick to their bracelets. This kept the children very busy as you can imagine and the children loved looking round the garden finding different things to accessorise with.

Next week we are moving onto zoo, under the sea and looking after the environment! We can't wait to see what we get up to next week!โœจ

Next week the Groovy Grasshopper's are going 'Under the sea' โ›ต๐ŸŸ

Our topic book for next week is Snail on a whale ๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ‹

We have an under the sea tuff spot accompanied by the pirate ship โ˜ ๏ธ This activity encourages the children to explore natural resources, whilst using their imagination for pirates role play โš“

At the creative table we have under the sea colouring, this supports our children to be able to hold a pencil effectively, encouraging a tripod grip โœ๏ธ

On the maths table we have a under the sea sorting activity, encouraging our children to match the items to the correct numeral quantity through using their fine motor skills with the tweezers ๐Ÿ

In the exploration station we have an octopus game, showing the children the skill in making toys work such as pulling and tapping ๐Ÿ™

Funky fingers area - We have sand mixed with shaving foam, encouraging our children to mark make through different media. ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿผ

Outside we are 'walking the plank', practicing our balancing skills walking across our plank, trying not to fall in the tuff tray ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Have a lovely weekend Groovy Grasshopper's, see you next week โ˜€๏ธ

Another Friday Wrap up from Busy Bees๐Ÿ

Yet again another busy week in Busy Bee's as we explored farms and farm yard animals we had plenty of activities that the children have loved getting stuck into. We've had plenty of learning and development this week as the children have started to learn names for baby animals. This helps our children to understand the world around them๐ŸŒ.
Following on from our book "one little chick" we completed life cycles where the children had to correctly place the different stages of chicken development in a cycle. Many of the children did brilliantly at this as they remembered the sequence from the book๐Ÿค

Pig Painting๐Ÿ–
The children loved creating their very own pigs using pink paint, googly eyes, and paper to make the nose and ears. The children enjoyed this activity especially as it was done outside. This activity helped to develop fine motor skills, social development and understanding of the world. One of the little boys when told we were creating pigs used the paint to create a pig face from memoryโœจ

Animal Washing๐Ÿ„๐Ÿซง
In the water tray outdoors we placed some very mucky animals for the children to clean. The children used cloths sponges and brushes to get the mud off the different animals. We had plenty of wow words throughout such as splash, dirty, sparkling. This activity improved physical development as the children developed their understanding of self care as they got into all the nooks and crannies and spoke a little bit about the importance of bathing and hygiene๐Ÿซง

VE Day๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
To help celebrate VE Day we created our very own flags. The children did this using red, blue and white and placing their flags on lollipop sticks. Conversations surrounding VE Day helped the children to better understand the importance of VE Day and the history surrounding it yet again helping to develop the children's understanding of the world around them.

We can't wait to see what you all get up to next week as we continue on with Farms and Farmyard animals for another week๐ŸŒŸ
