Capricorn Quilting is an award winning Longarm Quilter. Lynda won Best of World 2018 and creates unique quilts.

Lynda is a HandiQuilter Ambassador and a UK Educator giving classes in Longarm Quilting, Prostitcher, Prostitcher Designer and FMQ. I am situated a stones throw from the M1 and just over 10 minutes away from Meadowhall. I now dedicate my time to teaching and creating quilts for competition, creating lessons, creating designs for sale and teaching via different methods including Zoom. I am currently in the process of making my quilt studio into the area that I really wanted but wasn't able to do because of lock down and then life. I have so far managed to lay all the laminate flooring, which was a marathon as I had to move every single thing and two Longarms in order to do it, twice, to lay both sides. Had to do it myself as no-one wanted to move it all (clear work space only!)
Tomorrow the first lot of units are going to be delivered which will give me storage across the whole of one end and a worksurface on which to put printers, cutters etc. Thats going to be another marathon as its coming in 148 boxes 😬 It may take a while to put that lot together but then I can get the next lot ordered and delivered. Its all slow but it is progress, and as a 66yr old woman with a dodgy shoulder, I think I have done a damn good job so far

As I have had so many things happening at home, I have not had time to complete the quilts I wanted to in order to enter Festival of Quilts, but at least this one is now ready to bind and block. Not my usual style by a long chalk but it is good to do different things occasionally and give yourself something different to think about.

I created the design and kept the stitching quite simple as fits this style of quilt. Now onto the next one that was planned but had to wait.

Why are there never enough hours in a day and days in a week. Oh well. But today as it is soooo blooming hot, its a day on the computer and then a play with the Bai Mirror Embroidery machine. I haven't been able to do as much as I wanted to but bought some new cheap kitchen towels and decided to brighten them up a little. Of course I spent hours looking for a design and couldn't really find 'the one' so decided to just pick one and go for it.
Used the Maggie magnetic hoop, which are fabulous, and makes everything so quick to get ready, and within a less than and hour I had all four, hooped, stitched and finished. Now I know its not a huge thing, but this machine is all new to me and totally different to the domestics I have used before. However, every time I try something I am learning and getting more confident with it. So for now, a new set of towels and a feeling of accomplishment.

Wasn’t up to anything yesterday but I am not one to sit around for long so after a bit more reading to get the process in my head I downloaded a design from my new Hatch embroidery design software and put it into my new Bai Mirror and went for it. Still the same colours as it came with but they are all programmed to each needle now and then assigned to each colour change and hit the go button. First one done. Only simple but it’s a start. 😀😀

I have a new baby 😍👏👏.
I was going to get a new all singing and dancing domestic embroidery machine but the prices are ridiculous. Saw this at Harrogate show and fell in love with it.
My sons love it because it will do hats and I really love it because the biggest hoop is huge. 14x21. So I can get a 12 x 19 design in there easily for my future quilts.
It’s going to be another learning curve both using and designing the embroideries but I am on it. 😀. Watch this space.

As we welcome in 2026 we remember 2025 and all it has brrought both good and bad. As a result I am raising funds for Cancer Research by walking 62 Miles in January. I have friends and family affected by this horror and we should all do what we can to rid the world of it.

I have to announce that I have now closed my business.
Will I still be quilting? You bet I will.
Will I still be helping and continuing with my roles as Ambassador and Educator? You bet I will.
I am just getting older and will be officially at retirement age in the next few weeks so now is the right time to end that side of my life. particularly as it is all now sited at home.
I am currently working on a small piece of vintage and will be showing you that one soon. So dont go away, stay tuned as I intend to have lots of fun :)

As I haven’t been quilting for others since lockdown I thought I would just take a look at my stitch count on the machines.
A total of 71,188,708 is not bad going considering I have done so little just lately. And the infinity has been mainly my own quilts
