We are very proud that Audrey in Year 13 has had her artwork selected for exhibition at the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield City Centre. The work originally featured in the 'Future Now Schools and Colleges Show' at Sheffield Hallam University, alongside a larger selection of work by Silverdale students. The piece is a mixed media concertina book featuring beautiful etchings. It is titled 'Fairytale' and imagines a dream-like journey by a child through local landscapes. It is on show in the main concourse of the gallery if you would like to go along and see it.

A group of Year 8 to Year 10 students enjoyed a special English reward trip to Grimm & Co in Rotherham, celebrating their fantastic commitment to SPARX Reader homework throughout the last academic year.

The lucky pupils spent the day immersed in storytelling and creativity at Grimm &
Co’s magical storytelling emporium. Working together, they created three original
fantasy characters, devised an imaginative setting and plot, and even came up with a title for their story.

Their ideas were then transformed into something very special: the finished story was typed, professionally illustrated and printed, with each pupil receiving their own copy to take home.

It was a fabulous day celebrating pupils’ hard work, imagination and enthusiasm for
reading and storytelling – and a very well-deserved reward for their achievements!

To highlight the European Day of Languages this Saturday, we'd like to share the experience of Vera in year 11. Vera travelled by herself to Alicante recently, to stay with a Spanish family on a short exchange.

She visited el Castillo de Santa Barbara, went paddle boarding at sunrise and saw a manta ray. She also ate authentic paella made by her exchange partner's abuela. ¡Fenomenal!

Vera said that although it was hard to keep up with the speed of real-life spoken Spanish, she really noticed an improvement in her Spanish in just over a week. She said that speaking and listening to Spanish in context helped her understanding, and that she had plenty of opportunity to practice what she learned.

What a way to challenge yourself, build confidence and open yourself up to a different culture and new experiences. You might find that you're better at languages than you thought!

Following trials held by Real Betis Academy coaches during their visit to Sheffield in May, Sonny in Year 10 was one of just four Evo students selected to attend the Real Betis ‘The Best’ Camp, held for 115 students selected from thirteen different countries. The five-day camp was held at the Ciudad Deportiva Rafael Gordillo in Seville, the official training ground of Real Betis.

Over the five days, Sonny trained full-time within a La Liga academy environment alongside elite players from different countries and football cultures. This was a significant developmental opportunity, requiring adaptability on and off the pitch — working with new coaching voices, through a new language, and solving new football and personal challenges. ¡Bien hecho! Sonny.
