🎨PRESCHOOL🎨

Today Preschool have been looking at colouring mixing with lollipop sticks.
We took our primary colours RED, BLUE and YELLOW, we got cups of water and mixed the following:
Red + Blue
Yellow + Red
Blue + yellow
This experiment has provided our children with a hands-on learning experience that's focuses on all areas of development. It supported communication & Language by enhancing a child's vocabulary learning new words e.g. dissolve, mix and colour. They have also developed their mathematical skills by counting the sticks, colouring sorting and counting quantities. It's also focused on Personal, social and emotional, it's taught our children how to take turns, listen to each other's opinions and work together as a team!

The children have learnt that this activity encourages childrens curiosity, creativity, problem solving and confidence while helping develop an early undertstanding of problem solving and investigation.

The children really enjoyed doing this activity with Ebony!

🏡🌻Garden printing🍃🕷

This morning the 2's room and the Preschool children have joined in the garden for a morning explore. The children were interested with textures and prints within the garden, especially surrounding the wooden castle. With some children's targets being exploring the natural world, uderstand how living things work and expressing creativity through arts and design, we decided to grab some crayons and paper and explore the natural (and some unnatural) textures and prints within the garden.

Not only has this helped children's fine motor skills, pencil grip and hand-eye coordination, but it has also encouraged children to use their extensive vocabulary when describing textures and patterns within the garden. The preschoolers have used words such as 'bumpy', 'rough' and 'smooth', as well as naming specific materials that they have used to print; this being wood, rubber, plastic etc.

The two year old children have been practicing their mark making alongside preschool, exploring different textures and focusing on holding the paper in one hand and drawing with their crayons in the other. They have also been using their knowledge of colours to explain how the prints look, such as 'red looks stripey' , 'yellow lines' and 'rainbow printing'.

The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity with Lucy, keeping them focused, engaged and excited about the natural world around them. Here are some of the children with their prints and pictures! Well done little Minibugs!

🕷The great animal race🦑

This morning in preschool, we have been focusing on the wider world, animals within our world, how they move and how we take care of them. The children decided to have an 'animal race', trying to figure out which animal would be the fastest.

We crafted the race with ribbons and lollipop sticks, using them as 'twisters' to move the animals from one side of the room to the other. The children made rules such as 'you can twist the lollipop stick, but you can't pull it'. This made the race fair and suitable for all children, while encouraging fine motor skills when twisting the lollipop stick.

Children enjoyed the competitiveness of the game, cheering each other on while also cheering for their favourite animal. We discussed how many legs the animals had, and some children suggested that this would help 'win the race'. This was a really fun and interactive way to get children to think about their fine motor skills and how they use their hands, as well as discussing animal care and animals around the world. Well done Preschool!

A huge welcome to Katie Y!
Katie has recently joined us and will be taking on the role of SEN practitioner. Katie comes with a-lot of practical SEN experience and will be undertaking her Level 3 SENCO training in the coming months.
Katies favourite colour is Yellow 💛 , her favourite book is Rainbow Fish 🐠 and her favourite place to visit is Cornwall ☀️

Tomorrow we say farewell to Mia who has worked for Minibugs from the start of us opening up in 2017!

She has had various roles throughout her time here. We can't thank her enough and I am sure you all agree for all she has done for the nursery, staff and families over the years.

Luckily she isn't going far and has decided to help with cleaning the nursery that will help around family commitments but unfortunately we won't see her day to day as much so please wish her the best of luck in her new role!🐞❤️
