WESTWOOD EQUESTRIAN SPRING HALF TERM PONY DAYS

Thursday 28th May (with the possibility of an extra date depending on demand) 9:30am till 3:00pm. Suitable for children of all abilities and ages from 4yrs upwards. Pony days must be booked in advance and will be on a first come first served basis. We ask for a non-refundable deposit when booking to secure your place. Please PM for more information or bookings.

For anyone who is not familiar with our pony days below are a few frequently asked questions...

Q) Does my child need to be able to ride ?
A) No, pony days are suitable for riders of all abilities. Even children who have never ridden before.

Q) Is there a minimum age limit ?
A) Our pony days are aimed at children of primary school age. Although we don't have a minimum age limit for riding lessons we do recommend 4 years old for pony days as they can be quite full on so real littlies do tend to get tired.

Q) What does a pony day involve ?
A) Typical pony day activities include mucking out, grooming, feeding and watering the ponies, learning different aspects of horse care, games, quizzes and creative activities and fun riding sessions, usually little obstacle courses and/or gymkhana games.

Q) Do parents have to stay with their children ?
A) No parents don't stay but we can assure you that your children are in safe hands. Kelly and myself stay with the children all day. The children are never left unattended.

Q) What will my child need ?
A) Your child will need to dress appropriate for the weather (sun cream and sun hats if warm weather, waterproofs if rainy) and footwear suitable for riding (if not riding boots something with a slight heel ie wellies or boots, NOT TRAINERS) children will also need a pack lunch, perhaps with extra drinks if warm weather.

Sheffield half marathon ticked off for another year ✔ it was a windy one in places today but at least the rain held off until I'd crossed the finish line. Pleased with my time of 1 hour 58 mins, 6 mins quicker than last year (and that was with a wee stop half way round !) Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me, helping me raise money for the Neonatal ward, Jessop wing, Sheffield. Something that is very close to my heart with my Lottie being born 9 weeks prem back in 2011. As always it is very much appreciated. For anyone who wants to donate and sponsor me who hasn't already I'll put the link to my just giving page below, thanks again.

SHEFFIELD HALF MARATHON 2026

Just 2 weeks to go now until this years Sheffield half marathon, the training is going well and I'm ready to go !
As I'm sure many of you know, back in 2011 my daughter Lottie was born 9 weeks premature (not that you'd know it now as she's 14 years old, in year 10 at school working towards her GCSE's and is taller than her Mum !) It was such a scary time with Lottie not only being born early but coming very quickly too and having to stay in hospital for 5 weeks. Both Kelly and I will always be forever grateful to the team on the neonatal ward, Jessop wing, Sheffield for all that they did not only for Lottie but for us all as a family so to try and give a little bit back that is who im going to be running and raising money for this year. I will put the link to my just giving page below for anyone who wants to donate and sponsor me. I know a few people have already very kindly offered to do so. As always any donation however big or small is very much appreciated so thank you very much !
