Deepcar St John's C of E Junior School

Over the year our school has been working hard to raise money for The Pride of Yorkshire — helping to fund a lion sculpture and, most importantly, supporting the amazing work of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The School Council came up with the fantastic idea that the class who raised the most money would get to SLIME their teacher.

A massive well done to the winning class, and a special shout-out to Miss Woods-Booth for being such a good sport.

Congratulations to The Deepcar St John’s Junior School Choir who have been selected to perform at the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham this July 🎶

It's an incredible achievement for the young singers to be invited on their first application for the event which takes place on Friday 10 July at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

The school is hosting a 'Performance Party' to raise money towards the £700 needed for travel costs, the party will include an evening of:

- Pupil performances
- A music quiz
- 'Pop Bingo' games
- Cakes
- Refreshments
- A raffle

On Wednesday, Year 3 and 4 took part in Sports Day during the morning, followed by Year 5 and 6 in the afternoon. It was great to see so many children taking part and trying their best in each event.

A huge thank you to Mr Shaw, our Sports Coach, for all of his hard work in organising and running the day. We would also like to thank our Sports Leaders for their support and help in the morning by running the events for our year 3 and 4 children.

Finally, thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch and encourage the children. Your support helped make the day a special occasion for everyone involved.

We are trying to locate an item that has unfortunately been misplaced by one of our children. Please could you check with your child to see if they recognise or have seen the item shown in the image below.

If your child has any information, or if the item has been taken home by mistake, we would greatly appreciate it being returned to school as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at our annual sports day taking place tomorrow. The weather is looking warm, so please ensure that your child brings their water bottle into school with them.

We will also be selling some refreshments to parents during the event. This will be cash only.
