Join us for the Conduit Festival of Learning – three days of ideas, discussion and practical inspiration for educators.
Bringing together speakers and education professionals, the festival will explore some of the questions shaping teaching and learning today. Across the three days, we’ll consider themes including neurodiversity and reading, effective pedagogy, critical thinking, classroom environments and the thoughtful use of AI in education.

Aimed at Secondary educators looking to hone their classroom practise and understanding of inclusion, we have:
✅Rebecca Harris - Understanding How Best to Support LGBTQ+ Pupils in School
The session will raise awareness and examine the challenges facing LGBTQ+ pupils and explore what teachers and schools, in both primary and secondary contexts, could do to create a more inclusive LGBTQ+ environment.
✅Dr Gabriella Rodolico - Critical AI in Education: From Reflection to Learning Design
This workshop introduces the Toolkit for Reflecting on the Use of Digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technologies in Learning and Teaching, a new open-access resource developed by the School of Education at the University of Glasgow in collaboration with a range of educational stakeholders. The toolkit is designed to support educators, teacher educators, school leaders, professional learning facilitators, and other educational stakeholders in critically examining the role of digital and AI technologies in educational practice.
✅Alice Caldock - When Criticism and Curiosity Share a Table: What Does It Mean to Learn to Think with AI Rather than Merely Use It?:

Drawing on her own experiments with generative AI, Alice Caldock explores what happens when we move beyond prompting for answers and begin to establish a more critical, collaborative conversation with AI.
What does it mean to think with a system without mistaking it for a human mind - and what might that teach us about curiosity, judgement and AI literacy?
✅Bruce Robertson - Power Up Your Adaptive Teaching:
Increasingly in education, there is an expectation that teachers and schools are focusing on ‘adaptive teaching’. But what is adaptive teaching, what does high-quality adaptive teaching look like in practice, and how can every teacher be supported to make their adaptive teaching even better than it is already?
Through an exploration of evidence-informed principles and practical techniques, this session will explore all of these themes.
✅Karen Watson - Mainstream & Meaningful: Practical Strategies for Complex ASN Support: Bridging the Gap Between Inclusive Policy and Secondary Classroom Reality
Over 90% of pupils with Additional Support Needs in Scotland are educated in mainstream secondary settings, yet supporting youngsters with complex, severe, or non-linear learning profiles remains one of the biggest challenges in daily practice. This CPD session delivers concrete, adaptable strategies and visual toolkits to help secondary educators scaffold learning, build pupil autonomy, and deliver dignified inclusion in busy subject classrooms—without multiplying your planning workload.
✅Dr Catriona Stewart - Autism and Girls at Secondary School
Autistic girls in secondary school may experience many barriers to accessing their education. They are often unidentified, as they struggle to fit in, to "mask" or "camouflage". Even when diagnosed, their high abilities may cloak the extent of their challenges, or lead to misunderstandings around them.
This talk will highlight some of the key characteristics of autism in girls and how to help enable their participation at school.
