Recruitment of Trustees
Greystones Preschool

Greystones Preschool is an Early Years Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) situated in the heart of Greystones in southwest Sheffield. It has been part of the community for over 60 years and has been at its current location in the basement of Greystones Primary School since 2005. We are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

We are currently looking to recruit several trustees to join our governing body from September 2024. As an early years registered charity our board of trustees has to be made up of both family and affiliate members.

Family membership is available to the parents or guardians of all children who attend any group run by the CIO and who wish to support the aims of the CIO.

Affiliate membership is open to anyone who is interested in furthering its purposes.

The Charitable Incorporated Organisation must have a minimum of three and a maximum of twelve trustees in order to be registered with the Charities Commission.

1. Role and Responsibilities:
o Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for ensuring it fulfils its intended purposes.
o They lead the charity and make decisions on how it operates.
o Being a trustee involves making decisions that impact people’s lives, whether at local community level or in society.
o Most trustees serve voluntarily and do not receive payment, but they can claim reasonable expenses.

2. Main Duties of Trustees:
o Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit.
o Understand the charity’s purposes and plan its activities accordingly.
o Use their skills and experience to support the charity’s aims.
o Learn new skills during their time on the board.

If you feel that you would like to be considered for the post of trustee, please can you register your interest by sending an email to
