Hype Dance Hype Dance offers drop-in & IDTA / RAD exam dance classes for all ages and abilities at our academy.

Hype Dance Academy offers dance classes to all ages and abilities at our city centre based studios in Sheffield. Drop-in classes are just for fun, fitness or improving your technique while we also offer exam classes. These give the opportunity to take exams with either the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) or the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). Hype Dance Community offers dance workshops to schools, colleges, universities, dementia cafes, Parkinson's groups and others. These range from simple one off fun sessions to technique based workshops to sessions that help teach other areas of the school curriculum (eg, science, maths, history etc). Hype Dance Productions provides dancers for your parties & events and tours compelling and evocative pieces of dance theatre around the region and country.

She’s stepping way out of her comfort zone to raise vital funds for BBC Children in Need 🧸💛.

Artist Spotlight: Benoit Egloff.

We are incredibly honored to bring a teacher of Benoit’s caliber to Hype on Monday the 12th October!

Benoit’s training began at the highest level in France, studying at the legendary Paris Opera Ballet School and the Paris Conservatoire.
From there, his talent took him worldwide. He danced professionally in Canada for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal and in Switzerland for Ballett Basel, performing iconic classical ballets like Giselle and The Nutcracker, alongside contemporary masterpieces by William Forsythe, Jiri Killian, and Nacho Duato.
As an educator, Benoit holds the prestigious French classical ballet qualification (Diplôme d’Etat) and a TQFE from the University of Aberdeen. He has spent years shaping the next generation of dancers in the UK, working with The Royal Ballet School’s Associates, Dance Base Edinburgh, and the national Centre for Advanced Training (C.A.T.) scheme.
When the absolute best companies tour the UK, Benoit is who they call. He was recently appointed to teach professional company classes for Ballet Rambert (for the Peaky Blinders tour), Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures (Swan Lake tour), and Scottish Ballet. Benoit also takes responsibility to lead the Elevate programme’s classes, which is designed to address MS sufferers. Training with Benoit means learning from a true industry master. We are thrilled to welcome another addition to the Hype family — Melissa Cade!

Melissa’s dance journey began at just 2 years old at the Stephanie Phillips School of Dance (PERFORM) in Doncaster, where she discovered her passion for dance and musical theatre.

She has lit up the stage in productions like Beauty and the Beast at Cast Theatre, as well as A Christmas Carol and The Wizard of Oz at the Dearne Valley Playhouse.

Expanding her passion into teaching, Melissa earned her BATD teaching qualification in Modern Dance. She teaches a wide variety of styles — including modern, jazz, lyrical, and acrobatics!

Catch Melissa teaching our Musical Theatre classes every Thursday, as well as providing class cover across the studio.

We’re thrilled to welcome a new addition to the Hype family - Hannah Cade.

Hannah began dancing at the age of three at the Stephanie Phillips School of Dance (Perform) in Doncaster, where her love for musical theatre and dance first took root. She continued her studies through college and university, graduating from UCLan with a degree in Musical Theatre.
Since then, Hannah has gained her BATD teaching qualifications and teaches commercial, modern, jazz, and musical theatre. At our academy, she will be teaching Musical Theatre classes on Thursdays as well as providing class cover.
Alongside teaching, she performed in various pantomimes, productions at the Dearne Valley Playhouse, Doncaster Fear Factory, and beyond.

It’s that time of the year again, it’s time to start tapping!

We are so proud to announce that Hype will be joining the tapathon once again to beat the World Record and raise money for BBC Children in Need!

This year’s theme is all about connection, support, celebration, and coming together, something that truly embodies the spirit of TAPATHON. And yes, you guessed it, we will be tapping to an absolute banger: the Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There For You”!

Who can join? Everyone! We will be teaching the choreography during our Wednesday tap classes. There are both beginner and advanced versions of the routine, so anyone can make history with us.

And as you might remember from last year’s promise... Our Creative Director, Paulina, will be joining us this year, tapping for the very first time in her dance career! You do not want to miss this!

Please join us in congratulating our wonderful Students of the Month, Beth and Jo!

From the moment they joined Hype on the exact same day, they instantly became dance twins.
Watching their development over time has been an absolute joy. They have grown immensely, not only in their technical dance skills but also in their artistry and confidence as performers.

Thank you both for being such a wonderful part of our Hype family. Keep up the amazing work, ladies!
