We're hiring: Freelance Construction and Thermal Insulation Assessor

Portland Training is looking for an experienced assessor to join us on a freelance basis, coaching learners through their construction, plant and thermal insulation qualifications from induction all the way to certification.

This is a varied role across our construction and plant provision and our thermal insulation delivery. You'll be TICA approved and able to assess the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Thermal Insulation (Construction) alongside construction and/or plant NVQs.

Senior Business Development Officer 📍 Sheffield (S9 1GD)

Portland Training is growing, and we're looking for an experienced business developer to help drive it forward.

This is a senior role for someone who knows how to open doors, build relationships and turn conversations into new business. You'll lead outbound activity across calls, emails and digital channels, get out to the occasional face-to-face meeting, represent us at networking events, and mentor junior colleagues along the way.

Please note: you must have prior construction or engineering knowledge to apply.

What else we're looking for:

- A proven track record of hitting and beating sales targets in a senior role
- Confidence with CRM systems, data and reporting
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- A full UK driving licence, plus Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent)

Got your Gold but doing the work of a site manager?

The right CSCS card should match what you're actually doing on site, not what you started out with.

Blue Card: skilled worker, Level 2 NVQ.
Gold Card: supervisor or advanced tradesperson, Level 3 or 4 NVQ.
Black Card: site manager, Level 6 or 7 NVQ.

If your responsibilities have moved on but your card hasn't, it might be time to sort that.
