Tomorrow is GCSE Results Day!

For students receiving their results, it marks an exciting moment as they look ahead to what comes next.

At Birkdale, we're delighted to recognise outstanding acheivement with our new Sixth Form Academic Scholarship.

Students who achieve 9 Grade 9s at GCSE will receive a 20% scholarship towards Birkdale Sixth Form fees.

Already holding a scholarship or bursary offer below 20%? If you achieve 9 Grade 9s, your award will automatically be increased to 20%.

We hope tomorrow brings plenty to celebrate for everyone receiving their GCSE results.

A lovely results day surprise for the Shand twins!

After expecting to head to different universities this September, results day revealed that they will actually be starting the next chapter together at the University of Nottingham. Alex Shand is studying Veterinary Medicine, and Nick is studying Mechanical Engineering with an industrial placement.

Though at the same university, the boys will be on different campuses as the Veterinary School is at Sutton Bonington whereas Engineering will be based at University Park.

A brilliant coincidence and a special way to mark the end of their time as pupils at Birkdale.

A Level Results Day 2026!

Congratulations to all of our Upper Sixth Form students receiving their results today.

This year:

Over 1/3 of grades achieved were A* - A
85% of grades achieved were A* - C
2/3 of grades achieved were A* - B
10 subjects achieved at least half A* - A
5 subjects achieved 100% A* - B

Today is about every one of our students and celebrating their next chapter.

Congratulations class of 2026!

Thanks to the weather station kindly donated by FOBS, we were able to capture every twist and turn of an extraordinary month of weather in June at Birkdale.

From a chilly start with temperatures dropping to 7.3°C on 11 June, to a spectacular heatwave that saw the mercury rise to 34.6°C on 25 June, June 2026 delivered a little bit of everything!

Our weather station recorded:
☀️ 276.2 hours of sunshine, around 95 hours more than a typical Sheffield June
🌡️ 34.6°C , the highest temperature recorded
🌧️ 43.8mm of rainfall, well below the usual June average

The data has provided a fascinating insight into the changing weather patterns here in Sheffield and has become a fantastic learning resource for our pupils across the school.

A huge thank you again to FOBS for supporting this initiative and helping us bring real-world science and geography to life.
