🚨 Yesterday, Y5/6 visited Crucial Crew and took part in a range of interactive scenarios designed to help them learn how to stay safe in different situations. The pupils explored water safety and fire safety, as well as learning more about hate crime and child criminal exploitation. They also took part in a variety of other activities, developing their knowledge and understanding through practical experiences.

It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to learn important safety and life skills in an engaging and memorable way. Well done, Year 5/6!

🦉 EYFS have been getting creative during their Drawing Matters sessions, inspired by their current story, ‘Owl Babies’. The children carefully observed the shapes and features of owls before using their pencil control and painting skills to create their own owl babies sitting on a woodland branch.

It has been wonderful to see their concentration, creativity and attention to detail shine through in their artwork. Well done, EYFS!

⚽ In July, we were delighted to welcome Adam Pilgrim to our Careers Assembly, linked to the subject of PE. Adam, a football coach at Doncaster Rovers Academy, spoke to pupils about his role, what his job involves and how his passion for PE helped lead him to a career in sport.

Pupils were fascinated to hear about the different countries Adam has visited through his work and enjoyed learning more about the opportunities available within the sporting industry. A huge thank you to Adam for delivering such an interesting and engaging assembly and sharing his experiences with our pupils.

📞 In Year 1 Phonics, pupils have been using whisper phones to support their blending and segmenting skills. These simple tools help children hear their own voices clearly, allowing them to focus on hearing each individual phoneme before blending the sounds together to read a word. They are also useful for segmenting, helping pupils identify all the sounds they can hear in a word.

This week, the children began learning their first Phase 5 sounds and have done a fantastic job applying their new knowledge to their phonics work. Well done, Y1!

🥖 Pupils in The Cove enjoyed getting creative in the kitchen as they designed and baked their own bread! They followed their own instructions and worked brilliantly as a team to mix, roll and knead the dough. Once their bread was ready, pupils enjoyed tasting their creations with their friends in the afternoon.

It was a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills, teamwork and independence. Well done, everyone!
