Our new school horse Teddy is settling in well. He’s being ridden by the staff at the moment on lessons so he can get used to the way things work. He’s getting more balanced being ridden and has started some canter and small jumps. He’s come from a racing background so is changing in body shape and building some muscle for school work.

At Snowdon we have finished training to run the Changing Lives Through Horses educational courses. We have also secured a bursary to help partially fund children who are home educated. We are looking to see who would be interested in their child coming for the courses which are weekly during term time for a few hours per session. Either self funded if home schooled, or funded by schools if during school hours for children who struggle with the school pathway and need additional support.
We’re considering children from the age of 7 years and upwards.
The courses are based around horse care but deliver way more than this, helping with the 6 core life skills of communication, confidence, teamwork , relationships, perseverance and responsibility plus gaining recognised awards and qualification along the way whilst being in a secure and supportive environment. We’ve got a few spaces for kids beginner lessons at the moment. I think I’ve messaged everyone on the waiting list however if I’ve missed you please do get in touch. Also space for a few rare weekend private lessons too if interested.

It’s another warm day again. Just a few things to note: If we decide to cancel lessons for any reason we will aim to directly contact all of the riders, but will definitely put it on here too. If anyone decides not to ride for whatever reason please do let us know. We have a 24hr cancellation rule otherwise the lesson needs to be paid for. We know that people get poorly and so we are happy to rearrange group lessons to a different day within the following week if you cannot make it that day. We allocate all of the horses to their lessons so when people just don’t turn up it makes it tricky to run lessons properly with even horse work hours too. Xx

The newest member of the Snowdon team, Annie, is here to let you all know that we are cancelling lessons on Weds and Thurs from lunchtime onwards. We feel it is too warm for the horses to be expected to work and also to make the staff more comfortable doing less hours looking after them too. We will still do the morning privates before it heats up too much then the horses will all be back out under the shade of the trees for the day.

To our customers who also ride horses other than ours or go to other yards please can you make sure your riding equipment is disinfected and clothes are not mixed. We have heard of a few local cases of strangles and as a precaution just want to make sure it doesn’t come here too. Thanks very much.
