Another week building Motion

Highlight was definitely catching up with Sam from Pearl and meeting their wonderful residents 💜

I’ve always been amazed by the wisdom within a care home

Being able to speak to residents, hear their stories and what the trials and tribulations of life has taught them has been a pleasantly surprising source of advice that has shaped much of my life

And I’m excited to start sharing it with you! 💜

We’ve currently got a UX designer working with us at Motion (he’s bloody brilliant and someone whose work I’ve long admired)

He’s worked with some seriously impressive companies, so to receive this message from him made my week

One of the unintended benefits of working with external people (e.g. contractors) is that it gives you an outside perspective on your company

I don’t mean this in a braggy way - but basing everything we do on our users - is just so interwoven with the fabric of Motion that not being this way would feel weird; and it meant a lot to have someone highlight this as a strength of ours

Very proud of what we’re building - but time to get back to work until we’re number 1 on that list! 😁

One of the most common questions I get is “what’s it actually like running a startup?”

And I always struggle to answer it - mostly because of how varied it is 😵‍💫

So here goes my attempt of summarising a week of building Motion 🧱

“What’s the secret to a successful relationship?” 🤔❤️

Ahead of Valentines Day I had the privilege of speaking to experts* from some of our partner care homes about what makes for a long, happy and successful relationship

*everyone that took part were married for 40+ years. It doesn’t get much more ‘expert’ than that!

My lived experience inspired me to start Motion - and I’ve stuck with it, through the highs and lows, because of the incredible people I’ve met and the magical moments this sector has given me

And the best bit? It’s only just the start! 🚀 💜
