β˜€οΈ June Yoga and Wellbeing Focus: Appreciation β˜€οΈ

This month, we're encouraging children to notice and celebrate the kindness, achievements, and positive moments that happen each day. Learning to appreciate themselves and others helps children build stronger relationships, develop empathy, and create a more positive outlook on life. πŸ’›

β˜€οΈ Try this simple tip:
Take a few moments each day to talk about something positive that happened. It could be a kind act, an achievement, or simply something that made you smile. Recognising these moments helps build gratitude and emotional wellbeing.

🌞 Fun Family Activity:
Create a Sunshine Jar together! Place a jar somewhere everyone can reach and encourage family members to write down something they appreciate about another person each day. At the end of the week or month, read the notes together and celebrate all the kindness and positivity you've shared.

🌬️ Calm Breathing:
Try "Sunshine Breath" β€” sit comfortably and imagine a warm, bright sun above you. Breathe in slowly through your nose, filling yourself with positivity, happiness, and warmth. Exhale gently through your mouth, sending out kindness and joy to others. Repeat 5–8 times to feel calm, confident, and connected.

🧘 Yoga Poses for Appreciation:

πŸ’› Heart Opener – Stretch your arms wide and gently open your chest to encourage feelings of gratitude and kindness.

βš”οΈ Warrior I – Step one foot back, bend the front knee, and reach your arms overhead. This strong pose helps build confidence and appreciation for your own strengths.

πŸŒ‰ Bridge Pose – Lie on your back, bend your knees, and lift your hips towards the sky. This energising pose encourages positive feelings and self-belief.

🌱 Child's Pose – Rest back on your heels and stretch your arms forward. A calming pose for reflection and appreciation.

🌟 Seated Twist – Sit tall and gently twist from side to side, helping release tension and make space for gratitude.

πŸ“š Research Based Fact:
Research shows that regularly practising gratitude and appreciation can improve wellbeing, strengthen relationships, increase empathy, and boost overall happiness. Even simple daily reflections can help children develop a more positive and resilient mindset.

β˜€οΈ Wishing you a joyful and grateful June filled with kindness, connection, and positivity. πŸ’›

🌿 May Yoga and Wellbeing Focus: Mindful Nature 🌿

This month, we’re encouraging children to slow down, step outside, and connect with nature. Noticing the sights, sounds, and textures around them helps build calm, focus, and curiosity πŸ’›

🌱 Try this simple tip:
Spend 5–10 minutes outdoors together β€” no screens, no rushing. Ask questions like β€œWhat can you see, hear, or feel?”

πŸ” Fun family activity:
Go on a nature scavenger hunt! Find leaves, flowers, rocks, or clouds and describe their colours, shapes, and textures.

🌬 Calm breathing:
Try β€œLeaf Breath” β€” slowly breathe in through your nose, imagining you're breathing in fresh, clean air from the leaves around you, then gently exhale. Repeat a few times to feel relaxed and grounded.

🧘 Nature Yoga Poses:
🌳 Tree Pose – Stand tall on one leg, foot resting on the other, arms reaching up like branches.
πŸ¦… Eagle Pose – Wrap arms and legs together and focus on a still point.
🌿 Forward Fold – Gently fold forward and let your body hang like roots.
β›° Mountain Pose – Stand tall and still, noticing your breath.
πŸ’« Savasana – Lie down, close your eyes, and fully relax.

πŸ“š Research Based Fact:
Research shows that mindful time outdoors improves children's ability to focus, lowers stress levels, and encourages natural curiosity. Even short, regular periods in nature can
have a meaningful impact on children's emotional and cognitive wellbeing.

Wishing you a calm and curious May filled with outdoor moments. πŸŒΏπŸ’›

πŸ’›April Yoga Theme: Emotional VocabularyπŸ’›

We are supporting children to recognise, name, and express their feelings with confidence. When children can put words to how they feel, they are better able to manage emotions, communicate their needs, and build strong, healthy relationships.

✨ Tip of the Month:
Use everyday moments to gently introduce feeling words. Try phrases like β€œI notice you seem…” or β€œI wonder if you’re feeling…” to help children feel seen, heard, and supported while expanding their emotional language.

🎨 Family Mindfulness Activity: Mood Art Wall
Create a β€œMood Art Wall” at home where children can draw or paint how they feel each day. Encourage conversation around their artwork and the emotions they’ve expressed. This simple activity helps build emotional awareness and connection.

🌬 Breathing: Rainbow Breath 🌈
Sit comfortably, inhale slowly and imagine breathing in your favourite colour, then exhale a different colour. Repeat 5–8 times. This helps children calm their minds, regulate emotions, and feel more grounded.

🧘Yoga Poses for Emotional Awareness:
πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈChild’s Pose – Curl up small like a ball and rest your head down. This helps children feel safe, calm, and relaxed when emotions feel big.
πŸ¦‹Butterfly Pose – Sit tall with the soles of the feet together and gently flap the knees like butterfly wings. This encourages openness and gentle relaxation.
πŸ‘ΆHappy Baby Pose – Lie on your back, hold your feet, and gently rock side to side. A playful pose that helps release tension and lift mood.
🌈Side Stretch – Reach one arm up and over like a rainbow. This helps stretch the body and release tight or wiggly feelings.
πŸŒͺ️Seated Twist – Sit tall and gently twist to look behind you. This supports slowing down, resetting, and noticing how we feel inside.

πŸ“š Research Based Fact:
Research shows that children who develop a strong emotional vocabulary are better able to regulate their emotions, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships. Being able to name feelings is an essential step in learning how to manage them effectively.

🌿 Wishing you a calm and connected April 🌿
