Ruth, Fabian, Fiona & James swapped the usual birthday celebrations for something a little different a night of DJing, mixing and making memories together.

This summer, I had the pleasure of teaching Issac DJing at home in Sheffield.

Issac uses a wheelchair and has very limited movement in his hands, so working alongside his amazing family in a familiar environment made the whole experience comfortable and accessible.

Using the FLX4 controller + Rekordbox, we worked on some fundamental DJ skills , with one goal: putting together an 80s mix! 🕺🎶

Issac's knowledge of music was fantastic. As we built the playlist together, he quickly understood how matching the energy, mood and feel of tracks is key to creating a coherent mix.

He also did brilliantly using cues in the music to blend tracks together. 🙌

It was a brilliant experience, and a great reminder that with the right approach, DJing can be made accessible to more people.

Big love to two current students and one former student for absolutely smashing their sets at last weekend! 🔥

Monty aka ElF3LIX stepped up for his debut set, while Elijah and Charlie Tiff are already seasoned DJs with multiple sets under their belts.

They’re all proof that with the right tuition, practice and dedication to the craft, you can create some seriously special moments. 🎧🙌

Monty has been smashing it! 🔥 His passion for DJing shines through every lesson, and he's always working on improving his transitions between sessions. It's been brilliant to watch his confidence and skills grow from complete beginner to more challenging techniques. 🎧

He's currently putting together a 30-minute mix, and it's great to see everything he's been learning come together. 👏

A real milestone today for the DJ School... I woke up to my 100th 5-star review! 🙌

A huge thank you to every single person who has taken the time to leave feedback over the years. Your kind words have been incredibly motivating and have reminded me that what I do here genuinely makes a difference. Knowing that people are leaving with new skills, confidence and a love for music is what keeps me going.

This October marks 7 years since I opened the doors to the old Avec building in the city centre. Since then, I've had the privilege of teaching so many amazing people of all ages, all brought together by a curiosity for DJing and music production.

I often think back to my 14-year-old self asking my dad for a pair of battered second-hand belt-drive turntables. I never imagined that, all these years later, I'd still be living a life surrounded by decks and music.

Since 2008, my mission has been simple: pass on my passion to the next generation. From community projects and college lectures to workshops with hundreds of young people, training teachers, and creating performance opportunities for students—it's been an incredible journey.

Here's to the next 100 reviews... and to everyone who's been part of the story so far. ❤️🎧

As the school term comes to an end, it’s a great time to reflect on some of the brilliant work happening across Sheffield and Derbyshire this year. 🎶

A huge thank you to Elijah, who joined me for work experience last week and made a fantastic contribution.

From helping create a promo video and supporting teacher training at in Derby, to showcasing his GCSE DJ set to the Head of Music, Elijah got stuck into it all. He even finished the week building flat-pack furniture at the Studio in Sheffield! 🔨

A brilliant week of creativity, learning and getting involved. well done, Elijah! 👏

Third year in a row seeing Elijah smash the main stage, bringing the perfect summer Afrohouse mix

Top weather, amazing crowd, and such a great atmosphere from start to finish.
