An enormous thank you to all those who turned out for our Picnic in the Park, what a roaring success! It was lovely for our families to be able to watch their children play together and get a little glimpse into life behind our doors. We are incredibly lucky to have not only wonderful families but an amazing community of people who came together in support, despite the showers! Here's to next year! 🥳🥳

When Grace joined us two years ago she hit the ground running, studied as much as she could about Montessori alongside her own apprenticeship training and very quickly became a solid cog in our team. She has been steadfast in her reliability, she has been abundant in showing her kind hearted nature and patience for all so it came as no surprise to us when last night, after a team decision to nominate her for 'Apprentice of the Year', she stepped up and claimed the award!
We are incredibly proud of her commitment to caring for our children at the highest level and I'm sure all our parents will join us in wishing her a heartfelt congratulations! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

To have Tiny Town Sheffield on our doorstep is just serendipitous; owned and created with love and care by ex-childminders, they know their stuff when it comes to child development and Early Years provision. It's one of our favourite outings and we cannot drive past without a chant of "Tiny Town!!"
An enormous thank you for having us for so many years now 🤩

So what do we do when it's scorching outside?
We clamber, we balance, we chuck, we paint, we snack, we catch, we ride, we wobble, we count, we build, we drink, we hunt, we watch, we seek, we rest....

Yesterday we welcomed Little Heart Starters First Aid to teach our Little Acorns a little more about how we look after each other; from the importance of clean hands when applying plasters and bandages to who to call in an emergency and how to dial 999. They were able to try out blood oxygen monitors, blood pressure cuffs and the beloved stethoscope amongst many others!
We were incredibly proud that they could all confidently identify all these items and knew their uses, confirming our love of medical role play and endless stories of injured people and brave rescues!
Thank you for your time and energy Sadie, they absolutely loved it!

“The child does not follow the law of the least effort, but a law directly contrary. He uses an immense amount of energy over an unsubstantial end, and he spends, not only driving energy, but intensive energy in the exact ex*****on of every detail. ” Maria Montessori

"The children love to do these things [practical life activities] for themselves and they learn to be careful and precise in their movements. This is both education of movement, because there is a refinement of muscular co-ordination when the work is carefully done, and education through movement, because these activities involve judgement and will, self-discipline, and an appreciation of orderliness" Maria Montessori
