On Saturday Fifi and Claire took a trip into Sheffield city centre to find our lovely lion cub Roary!! He is situated at the moor market, please see the last photo for which entrance!! We had a lovely time and met some of the lovely pride along the way! Don’t forget to share your pictures with us too!!

Today the babies explored a sensory messy tray inspired by the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The tray included a variety of exciting textures and materials linked to different parts of the story, such as soft grass, wet water play, muddy textures, and crinkly fabrics. The babies showed great curiosity as they used their hands and senses to touch, squeeze, pat, and explore the different materials. They were engaged and interested throughout the experience, enjoying the opportunity to investigate the textures in their own ways.
Practitioners supported the activity by using simple language and repeating familiar words and sounds from the story such as “swishy swashy,” “splash splosh,” and “squelch squerch,” encouraging the babies to listen, respond, and begin to connect words with actions and sensory experiences. The repetitive storytelling helped to support early communication and listening skills.

Today our little kingdom classroom had a lovely story time with Fifi! She read some wonderful stories all about the life cycle of chickens, including Watch Me Grow: 🐓
The children were completely engrossed and so excited to learn about how a chicken grows from an egg into a chick and then into a chicken. We used our little figures to help explore and sequence each stage of the journey, giving the children a hands-on way to understand the life cycle and encouraging lots of discussion and curiosity throughout the activity.
