As the school year comes to an end, we would like to wish all of our pupils, families and staff a wonderful summer break.

Thank you for being part of another fantastic year. Together, we have celebrated achievements in classrooms, on sports fields, on stages, in competitions, on trips and in our local communities. Most importantly, we have seen our pupils grow in confidence, character and ambition.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned rest and has the opportunity to make special memories over the summer.

We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back in September and to another year filled with learning, opportunity and success.

Have a brilliant summer from everyone at Nether Edge Primary and Mercia Learning Trust.

Celebrating Success

A huge well done to Haadiya and Hoorain, who proudly represented Nether Edge Primary School as School Ambassadors at the High Hazels Academy Summer Fair.

Standing confidently in front of the headteacher, staff, parents, pupils and the wider school community, they delivered a heartfelt speech celebrating their beloved Grandad's retirement and thanking everyone for the support, kindness and appreciation shown to him throughout his years of service.

This was a wonderful example of confidence, gratitude and public speaking, and a moment they should be incredibly proud of.

As we approach the summer holidays, we wanted to make families aware of the government's Summer Savings scheme, which brings together information on discounts and offers available across the UK during the summer break.

The website includes family attractions, cultural activities, meal offers and information about free bus travel for children aged 15 and under during August.

More information can be found here:
https://summersavings.gov.uk/

We hope this is a useful resource for our families as they plan for the summer holidays.

We've just had a lovely message for our friend and author, Jenny McLachlan, following yesterday's visit to our school. Here's what she had to say...

"Nether Edge Primary is such a special school and I loved my visit!

The children were incredibly well-behaved, attentive and kind to each other.

The reading culture at the school is magical to see and we had a fantastic time visiting the Land of Roar together.

Thank you for inviting me into your friendly and happy school!"

What happens when one of your favourite authors visits school?

At Nether Edge Primary School, children in Years 3 to 6 were delighted to welcome author and illustrator Jenny McLachlan, creator of the much-loved Land of Roar series.

As the books have been a core part of reading and learning at Nether Edge for several years, meeting Jenny was a very special experience. Children enjoyed a truly memorable assembly packed with storytelling, drama, dragon egg hatching and insights into how Jenny became a writer. She even shared one of the stories she wrote as a child, inspiring children to see where imagination and perseverance can lead.

Jenny also spent time with our Reader Leaders, answering questions and talking about books, writing and creativity in smaller groups. The visit finished with a book signing, giving children the chance to have their favourite books signed and chat with Jenny about the stories they love.

A huge thank you to Jenny for bringing the Land of Roar to life and inspiring the next generation of readers and writers.
