Little attendance can hide a bigger story.
EBSA is not laziness, and it is not defiance. It is often fear, overwhelmed, or an unmet need.
At KRS, we look for the why, then build the support around the young person. Progress can start with one safe step. 🌟

Young people first. Always.
Any off-site direction should be about moving forward — not simply being removed from school. The young person has to be at the centre of every decision, every plan, and every next step.
That’s exactly how we work. At KRS Education, we build support around what the young person actually needs to re-engage, regulate, and succeed.
Level 7-led therapeutic support, including Art Therapy delivered in a natural environment
Small groups (class sizes no bigger than 8) so nobody gets lost
Targeted interventions that meet young people where they are — including boxing for those carrying anger, and dance to help burn energy and reset
Maths and English as a non-negotiable, because young people shouldn’t fall further behind academically while they’re getting the right support.
Most importantly, we listen. We work alongside school, the young person, and parents/carers — and we link in with outside agencies because real progress happens when everyone pulls in the same direction.
Suspensions and exclusions aren’t the only answer.
Flexibility, early action, and joined-up support can change outcomes — especially when it matters most.
We’re sharing this Department for Education guidance on suspensions and permanent exclusions because it’s a must read.
It helps you understand:
your child’s rights
what schools should consider
the timelines and expectations for action
Read it here:https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/66be0d92c32366481ca4918a/Suspensions_and_permanent_exclusions_guidance.pdf
Because every young person deserves a team that believes in them — and a plan that helps them thrive.
The DfE has updated its guidance on suspensions and permanent exclusions: SEND families really need to read this one carefully.
Read here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-suspensions-and-permanent-exclusions
There are TWO versions:
☀️ Current guidance until 25th July 2026
☀️ New guidance from 26th July 2026
A few things worth looking out for:
• increased focus on off-site direction
• continued use of suspensions/exclusions as behaviour tools
• reminders that SEND and mental health SHOULD be considered before exclusion
• more mention of internal suspension and alternative provision routes
Please don’t assume that because something is “school policy” it automatically means it is lawful or appropriate for your child.
Read it.
Question it.
Know your rights.
Because exclusions can have life changing consequences for SEND children and young people.
