Computing student Zak secures full-time role with Preventx.
Zak initially joined UTC in Year 9 and has now successfully completed his T Level in Digital Software Development.
During his studies, Zak worked with a range of employers, including Pendo, AtkinsRéalis, Pen & Purpose, Bravand, DigiNinja and Canon Medical, gaining valuable insight into the digital sector. As part of his T Level, he also completed a nine-week industry placement with Preventx as a Junior Developer.
Following the success of his placement, Zak has secured a full-time role with Preventx as an IT Service Desk Analyst, where he is already putting the skills he developed at UTC into practice.
Reflecting on his experience, Zak said:
"I found that the UTC was extremely beneficial towards achieving my career goals, and the T Level too. I loved the way that the T Level exams worked; they were more practical based rather than a written exam. It is one thing to be able to write about something, but it proves that you know how to do it in real life if you can do it practically."
Speaking about the support he received from staff during his time at UTC, Zak added:
"Mr Parr has been one of my IT teachers since I joined the school and I believe that he has made a great impact on how well I did in my GCSEs and T Level. Miss Chaplin was also a very important teacher that helped me toward my success in my T Level. I owe them both a big thank you!"
