The Official Student Society for the University of Sheffield Department of Economics.

We are dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and are fuelled by a passion for the beauty of theory of Economics. We hope to provide a platform to share with you our interest in the constantly evolving world of economics and how it interacts with the worlds of politics, current affairs and global issues. To achieve this mission, an emphasis will be made on enhancing skills of our members to promote career advancement, bringing in top-quality speakers to share their expert knowledge on topics that matter, from the economics of climate change to the role of biases in decision-making and economic models. More than just an academic society, we also play an active role in organising academic and social events for Economics students, oversee student representation and provide various other opportunities to those who wish to get more involved with their department. SUMMER INTERNSHIP APPLICATION TALK 📈

Applications for the Summer 2027 internships are already open, so, we’ve partnered up with UoS Women in Business Society University of Sheffield Investment Society and Sheffield University Management Society to bring Sam Leong, Founder and CEO of Trackr to Sheffield!

Trackr helps thousands of students in their application process across Finance, Consulting and more - so he really knows what gets people through the door.

This event is very valuable for all years, especially those of you looking to get a head start in the internship process. There will also be a live Q&A with Sam after his talk for those with any burning questions, so get thinking!

Trackr Academy is now open for enrolment!

Want some actual skills that you can show your potential employer? Come and join us at our Excel Workshop this Friday at 1pm in Lecture Theatre 1 in The Wave!

Sam Rees will be running this session, he is an Economics student that has recently completed his placement year with Honda. He has even run Excel workshops like this before for his coworkers during his time there, so he knows what he’s talking about!

The event is completely free and interactive, we recommend that you bring your laptop with Excel downloaded beforehand, if you don’t have this, please see the second slide for instructions on how to. If you would rather just take notes without the interactive aspect, that’s completely fine too!
