🍁 It’s starting to feel very autumnal in EYFS! Pupils have been enjoying lots of seasonal activities, from making orange tea and crunching through leaves to baking their own pretend pumpkin pies. They have also been exploring the different textures of autumn, getting hands-on as they investigate the changes happening around them.

It has been a lovely way to welcome the new season!

🚨 On Friday, Y6 had an amazing time at Crucial Crew, taking part in a range of activities designed to help them learn how to stay safe in different situations. They explored bus and road safety, learned about exploitation and knife crime, and developed their understanding of water safety.

One of the highlights was the courtroom activity, where pupils had the opportunity to act out a scenario alongside their peers. It was a fantastic day full of important learning and practical experiences. Well done, Year 6!

🍞 This week, Aston Lodge had a lovely time visiting the local church for a special Harvest experience. The children worked their way around a carousel of engaging, hands-on activities, giving them the opportunity to learn more about where our food comes from and how it is produced. They enjoyed making pots, having a go at weaving with string, learning about yeast and tasting bread, as well as exploring fruit and vegetables that grow in the soil and discovering more about food that comes from the sea.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn through practical experiences and develop their understanding of Harvest and the food we eat. Well done, everyone!

📣 Last Friday, the children in EYFS celebrated Rotherham Day! Everyone dressed in red and talked about where their school is located. They shared places they have visited in Rotherham and discussed what they enjoy seeing and doing in their local area.

The children then put on their adventure backpacks and headed outside for a special red hunt! They explored the school grounds, carefully searching for each red item on their list. As they found each object, they ticked it off and shared their discoveries with their friends. It was a lovely way to develop their observation skills while celebrating their local community. Well done, EYFS!

📣 Over the past few weeks, EYFS have been developing their fine motor skills through lots of fun, hands-on activities. They have enjoyed Dough Disco, using tweezers to pick up bumble bees and spaghetti, and creating marks and patterns with chalk. These activities have helped develop their concentration, coordination and control, while encouraging plenty of perseverance.

Well done, EYFS!

⭐ Today, Aston Lodge pupils have loved dressing in red to celebrate Rotherham Day! The children have taken part in a range of activities celebrating our local town, including creating posters, exploring maps of Rotherham and talking about places they know and enjoy visiting.

They also enjoyed looking back at the events and activities they took part in last year as part of Rotherham being the Capital of Culture, with many children remembering and sharing their favourite experiences. It has been a brilliant day of celebrating our community and showing pride in Rotherham. Well done, everyone!
