Spring is officially here and today the children where able to see twin lambs being born on the field next to nursery! This was an exciting time for children and staff and we hope the first of many lambs to come. Just one of the amazing benefits of being located in the beautiful countryside 🐑

NEW Little Talkers
Starting from Monday 28th April 2025
Little Talkers is an exciting new communication and language session run by our friendly Engagement Practitioners in Family Hubs and local libraries. This new group will help you to support your child’s early communication and language.
We will share stories, rhymes and provide activities to try at home to support communication and language.
Drop in – no booking required for children 5 years and under.

Today the older children have been developing their fine motor skills and making bird feeders out of cereal. They have hung these around the forest which is often full of birds, most recently we've made friends with a chaffinch who comes and sits on the fence next to the children! 🦆🦜🐦🐦‍⬛

As spring at Willow Tree Daycare unfolds the children have been loving their time out in the sunshine; even having lunch outside. They have began to learn about the changes spring brings and understand the world around them! ☀️

Our planting journey in the vegetable garden has begun, the children have so far helped to plant sunflowers, sweetpeas, onions, lettuce, sweetcorn and spring onion - with plenty more exciting planting opportunities over the next few weeks 🥬🌻🌽

We have been enjoying finding lots of minibeasts along the way, they particulary enjoyed holding worms and rescuing a bee. The children have been taking a great interest in feeding the birds and watching them from our bird area inside 🪱🐛🐦‍⬛

The children have loved spending time in our newly developed forest and bike area, moving between the 2 as they wish, we are excited for all the lovely opportunities summer will bring at Willow Tree Daycare.

Some pictures taken over the last couple of weeks which has included lots of playing outside, Pancake Day and World Book Day 🍁🥞📚

The children have loved our new gates allowing free flow play from the forest to the cars and bikes 🚙

We also have a brand new allotment area where we will get the children involved in lots of planting and growing 🌻🌼

Some activities from the last couple of weeks at Willow Tree 🌳

We have enjoyed playing in the snow, both outside and even brought some inside to use for our Arctic Animals. Lots of baby sensory activities, painting and using our new water tray ❄️🎨💧

We have had a fantastic first week of hot dinners and tea at nursery this week 🍽️🥪🥗

Our experienced cook has put together an amazing 3 week rolling menu that offers children to try a wide variety of foods and all the children have loved self-serving their own dinners.

We are open as normal today ❄️ the roads around nursery are very icy and the driveway has a light layer of snow and again is icy so please be careful on your way in. Thanks

Snow Update; Tuesday 7th January: we are working to ensure the nursery is safe for opening so please bare with us this morning. We are delaying opening until 9am. Thank you for your understanding.

Snow update: due to the heavy snowfall overnight, we have had to make the difficult decision to keep the nursery closed today. This is for the safety of our children and staff. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to be open as usually tomorrow. Thank you

❄️ Tomorrow ❄️

The paths and driveway have been cleared today in preparation for tomorrow. We will keep an eye on the snow overnight but hopefully we will be fine to open as usually tomorrow. If there are any changes, we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Tomorrow is also the first day of hot food for those that have asked for it and first on the menu is beef mince with mixed vegetables, homemade dumplings and gravy 🍽️
