A huge congratulations for winning “Guess the number of marbles in the tub”. Whilst the guess wasn’t quite the correct number, it was the closest. We hope that you enjoy the complimentary game of bowling at Hollywood Bowl!

A huge congratulations for winning “Guess the name of the teddy”. The winning name was Rosie. We are delighted that Rosie is going to received lots of cuddles and will be well looked after.

to all of Year 1 and Year 2 pupils for taking part in the Royd World Cup. Each team participated in a group stage that contained 6 teams, meaning that they all played 5 games each. The overall winner of the tournament was Nigeria with England coming in second place. A huge well done to the winners who received a special medal. We were really pleased with the attitude of all our children. The children were really gracious in defeat and they all applauded their friends who had won. Amazing sportsmanship!

Every year Key Stage 1 children participate in the Royd World Cup. Year 1 and Year 2 children are divided into teams from around the world and then they play against each other in football matches. In each group there are approximately 6 teams so they end up playing 5 football matches. We asked the children what they enjoyed about participating in the Royd World Cup and here were some of their answers:
“It is fun because we get to play with our friends.”
“Exercise is good for you because it makes you healthy.”
“I haven’t played in a football team before so I really liked that.”
“It was the best afternoon ever!”
We hope that you enjoy the photos! Ask your child what football team that they played in during the tournament and then can you get them to create a fact sheet linked to their country and / or draw the flag. If they can't remember the name of their team then you could pick any country from Europe, Africa, Asia, South America or North America.

Royd were graded as “Outstanding” by Ofsted in “Early Years Provision” as well as many of the other areas. Ofsted reported that “Royd is a welcoming and happy place. Relationships across the school are warm and respectful, reflecting the school positive culture”. The Education for a Connected World framework is used by Royd Nursery Infant School to support in the delivery of online safety. It describes the Digital knowledge and skills that children and young people should have the opportunity to develop at different ages and stages of their lives. It highlights what a child should know in terms of current online technology, its influence on behaviour and development, and what skills they need to be able to navigate it.

The document supports one of the key aims of the government’s Internet Safety Strategy of supporting children to stay safe and make a positive contribution online, as well enabling teachers to develop effective strategies for understanding and handling online risks.

As part of “Celebration Assembly” on a Friday school celebrate children’s achievements.
One of the aspects that school celebrates is linked to our “School Values”. A “School Value” is a principle that guides our thinking and our behaviour. At Royd, every individual is valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school. Reader, writer and mathematician of the week.
As part of “Celebration Assembly” on a Friday school celebrate children’s achievements. Children are rewarded for their hard work and quality of their work through receiving the Reader, Writer and Mathematician of the week t-shirts that they wear proudly during school. A huge congratulations to the children that received these awards this week. We are very proud of you!

Our Reception children have been incredibly creative during Arts Week! 🎨🦕
All of our work was inspired by the wonderful book Dinosaurs Don't Draw. The children explored a range of artistic skills, including collage, moulding and rolling clay to create paint palettes, using Modroc to make coconuts, sketching and chalk techniques to draw their favourite dinosaurs, and creating beautiful wax-resist pictures.
The staff are extremely proud of the children's enthusiasm, creativity, and the fantastic artwork they have produced. Their finished pieces are now proudly displayed in the entrance corridor for everyone to enjoy.
