I've created this page as a place to keep track of all important research studies.

My aim is to keep all of this research in relevant files within this page so it makes life a little bit easier for all of us with ME.

"Kaufman said he didn’t want to sound “hyperbolic” about the new drugs, but then sounded pretty hyperbolic when he described his short. but so far positive, experience with them in these diseases as “eye-opening” and “incredible”."

🧬Science Wednesdays: Biobank

A biobank is a large collection of samples (e.g., blood, urine) that have been gathered over time—often through clinic visits or research studies—and are securely stored for future research.

Utilizing biobanks that have well-characterized samples may be a critical step in getting a better understanding of what’s going on in ME/CFS and how to treat it. Testing these samples on a large scale might help determine patient subtypes and enable a precision medicine approach to clinical management of the disease.

Part of OMF’s mission is to identify a biochemical signature for ME/CFS that can be used for diagnosing the condition and evaluating the effect of treatment. To this end, OMF is pursuing a large-scale ME/CFS biomarker study (BioQuest), which will utilize samples stored in several biobanks.

This week, the project team reached a significant milestone: we are into the final analysis stage which tests millions of DNA variants for their association to ME/CFS. Completion of the write-up and announcement of the results will follow as soon as possible.

We are on target to deliver the results before the completion of the study in August and appreciate your continued patience and support.

If they are awarded funding, this study will follow on from the DecodeME study. It will be use samples obtained by the DecodeME study from 17000 participants who gave permission for their sample to be used in further research. The first samples to be sequenced will be those from Severe and Very Severe patients.

Update from DecodeME. I'm very eager to see the results from this study.

"Looking Ahead

We remain acutely aware of the urgency to deliver the study results to you as soon as possible.

We anticipate the DNA analysis to be complete by the middle of next year and we will share the results with you first through this newsletter and on our website.

You can also expect to hear the results of the second questionnaire analysis shortly after the DNA results."
