Year 8 Trip Update!

Fueled by a hearty breakfast - cooked or continental, depending on their craving - our students dove headfirst into an action-packed day. With packed lunches in hand, they powered through activity after activity before winding down to craft their own custom pizzas, topped off with a well-earned ice cream dessert.

​As dinner finished, a few teachers quietly slipped away, claiming they needed to "prep the evening activities."
​What the students didn’t realise was that they were walking straight into a setup.

​What followed was the water fight to end all water fights. Outnumbered, outmatched, but fully committed, our staff unleashed total chaos in an epic, soaked-to-the-bone battle.

Year 8 Camp Update!

Year 8 have arrived safely at Cuffley Activity Centre!

​They’ve hit the ground running with their first set of activities, showing incredible kindness, resilience, and teamwork right from the start.

​To wrap up a fantastic first day, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner of chicken wraps, couscous, and fresh salad - topped off with tasty brownies and fireside s’mores!

What a day! Sports Day 2026 was incredible for so many reasons: incredible weather, incredible participation and most of all – our incredible students!

The day was full of opportunities to get involved including games of Rounders for all (staff included!) and an afternoon of cheering on our mentoring classes in the races. The highlight of it all? It’s hard to choose. Maybe it was the field wide singalong to ‘Sweet Caroline’, maybe it was the custom signs waving in the breeze or maybe it was the staff inflatable dinosaur costume race. The afternoon was such a delight for all and a real testament to our student community. There are so many photos from the afternoon but here is a small selection for your enjoyment. Well done to all of our winners - your medals are coming to you in Reward Assemblies this week.

Thank you especially to our P.E department and all our staff for their efforts in making this day such a resounding success.

Our transition events for our new Year 7s were a resounding success! 🎉

The transition evening was packed with vital information, including key presentations from our Headteacher and Head of Year 7. While parents and carers ticked off the essentials - ordering uniforms, chatting with travel providers, and exploring community support - our new students met their teachers and found out their new classes.

The transition day itself was filled with brilliant activities designed to help our students thrive from the very start of their journey with us. We have received wonderful feedback from both students and their families, and we can't wait to officially welcome our new Year 7 cohort in September!

Our Creative students had a fantastic time at the Creative Careers Fair at Dreamland, Margate!

They explored exciting opportunities across the creative industries, meeting employers, colleges, universities and industry professionals from areas including media, design, performing arts, digital technology, music and events.

A brilliant opportunity for students to discover future career pathways, gain inspiration and see how their creativity and skills can open doors.

The Peace Field Project is an ongoing National and International heritage project, open to all schools, clubs, groups and public play areas around the world.

EKCSS has pledged their support to the project and the important commemoration work that it does. As part of the project, we have now twinned our own school playing fields with those at Flanders Fields where the incredible Christmas Truce Football games were played.

Embodying our school ARK values, the project aims to ensure that all children are able to enjoy kind and peaceful play, while also remembering the importance of our past.

With students now experiencing their new school years for the final weeks of term, the Year 10 Child Development BTEC class are off to an enthusiastic start including some deep diving into the world of children’s fiction. The teamwork, communication and resilience in the class as they tackle a new subject for the first time has been wonderful to witness and your teachers are incredibly proud of you!

Parentkind Silver Award!

EKC Sheppey Secondary, as well as all other EKC Schools Trust schools, have now been awarded the Silver Parentkind Award as recognition for the continued efforts to build open, confident and respectful bridges with our community.

It is through the work that we do with families that our school continues to change the face of education here on the Isle of Sheppey.

Last week, our Year 8 and Year 9 students represented EKC Sheppey Secondary at an exciting STEM Challenge Day hosted by the University of Greenwich, accompanied by Mrs DeBruin and Miss Havill.

Working in mixed-school teams, students developed their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while making new friends from across Kent. They took part in a range of STEM challenges including a forensic investigation using E-FIT technology, a medical diagnostics challenge where they learned CPR, robot programming, and the design and construction of electric vehicles.

The standard of participation was exceptionally high, with students embracing every challenge and demonstrating our ARK values throughout the day. Their enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork made them fantastic ambassadors for the school. Mrs DeBruin and Miss Havill were incredibly proud of the maturity, positivity and determination shown by all students. Well done to everyone involved for making the most of this fantastic opportunity and a big thank you to the University of Greenwich for hosting such a valuable event.
