In Years 7 & 8, our boys step up into a wide range of roles of responsibility and leadership – from Head Boy, Head Chorister, and Company Leader to Sports Captains, Prefects, and Boarding House Seniors. They also support younger pupils, learning the value of teamwork, guidance, and care.
Alongside these roles, boys enjoy specialist teaching to deepen knowledge, independent projects to develop critical thinking and public speaking opportunities, helping them grow into confident, well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for the challenges and adventures of the future.

We’re so proud to share that we’ve been awarded a Bronze Award in the Wilder Awards 2025–26! This recognition celebrates the positive impact we’re making on the natural environment around us. From bat, bird and hedgehog boxes to beehives, bug hotels, wildflower gardens, and dedicated areas for natural growth — helping wildlife and nature thrive is at the heart of everything we do.
Through our Gardening and Eco Clubs, reducing waste and plastic use, and choosing locally sourced ingredients for our meals, we’re building a culture that truly cares for our planet.

The Iceland Adventure. The Lava Show was arguably the highlight of the day. Quite incredible, the boys were mesmerised. This was the first time we have been to the show on the Iceland trip, definitely one to add, a must see.

Day 2. Beautiful Iceland. Four seasons in a day today; snow flurries, hale, a horizontal blizzard, rain, windy gusts, and plenty of glorious sunshine. The south coast is simply amazing. Another fantastic experience for the boys.

The boys on the Iceland Adventure are now out for the count in their dorms after a busy first day. The farm stay is always so welcoming and we had a lovely Lasagna for our meal this evening. We will be up early tomorrow for a trip over to Vik, via the black rocks and a couple of waterfalls!

In an outstanding rugby match this week, The New Beacon faced the Elite Youth Academy A team - made up of the best U11 players from across the country - on the 1st XV pitch at Tonbridge. A perfect stage for a clash between two unbeaten sides.
In a tremendous, end-to-end battle, neither team ever led by more than a single score. TNB went 2 tries to 1 up, before EYA responded to take a 3–2 lead, but a crucial try just before half time saw TNB edge ahead 4–3 at the break.
The second half was just as intense—5–5 with only minutes remaining, when TNB took the lead.
Final whistle: The New Beacon 6–5 EYA. An outstanding contest between two top sides, well done to every player!
