⚽️ World Cup Football Sticker Fever has hit preschool!! ⚽️

So many opportunities to develop skills, understanding and knowledge and to find out something fun or interesting. Today the children tried to recognise and match the numbers they could see on the football sticker, then use their fine motor skills to peel the sticker and stick them into the correct boxes (much harder than you think for little fingers!) …. It developed into lots of talking & discussion about the names of the different countries, looking at the world map to see where the country was, looking at colours and shapes on the different flags and counting how many stickers we had on each page. A perfect example that play and engagement is the best vehicle for learning.

We have had a lovely day at preschool celebrating Sir David’s Birthday. We spent the morning at our allotment and made our own Attenborough garden, filled with plants and herbs that attract the bees and butterflies love 🐝🦋

Today we are excited to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday at Preschool. A man that inspires so many and brings curiosity and wonder about our world. 🌍 We will be planting some of his favourite herbs and some butterfly and bee shrubs in our garden and allotment 🐝 and will continue to care and nurture the plants and vegetables we already have growing. Teaching the youngest children about respecting and appreciating nature and our world is a life skill, so they can understand it and protect it as they grow up. 🥰 I’m proud to say that our children love being outside, growing plants and food that we eat, and when finding a worm, bug or a spider 🕷️they show great respect for the living creatures in their environment. We have also made Sir David a birthday cake and will be enjoying it with a cup of tea later today too! We hope you are all thinking about and celebrating this special man today in some way too. 💙

*WROTHAM ARTS FESTIVAL - 8th-10th May*

We are very excited to say that St George’s Preschool are displaying the children’s photography skills at the Wrotham Arts Festival this weekend. The theme was 📷‘Photography’ this year and we wanted to show our community through the eyes of the children. Each child has chosen what they wanted to take a photo of and taken their photo independently. We are very proud of what they have produced and we know they will bring lots of smiles to the displays in the church. We hope you can all visit the church to view their work and all the other amazing exhibits that will be on display. 🖼️

📚And that’s how you celebrate World Book Day! 📚The costumes add some extra fun and excitement to the day … but the stories, the cuddles, the conversations and the time shared together are what bring the magic of the books to life and create those special moments and memories. 🥰

What an exciting week with lots of opportunity to learn about the Lunar New Year and to celebrate our families! 🧧
We have tasted authentic Asian foods, looked at Chinese text and stories, we have made Chinese tea and carried out our own little tea ceremony ☕️ We made lucky red lanterns 🏮and red lucky Wallets to share with our family & friends. We even made our own sushi too. 🍣

Today we used our Zap Jars for the first time with the children, they had the best time!! The children had to pick a card out of the special jar and follow the instructions…. We had so much fun and the activities kept us busy and engaged (even the grown ups!) what makes these jars even more special is that they were thought up, designed, made and sold by one of our very own little dragons! (Who is now a budding young business man in primary school!) We are so proud of him and are grateful we got to be one of the first people to join in with the fun. Please have a look at the link below and support this little entrepreneur in his first venture 🥰
