⚽️ Football's coming home! ⚽️

In celebration of England's first football game this evening we have been celebrating in lots of different ways. We had some amazing football kits worn ready for the football disco, a delicious red and white strawberry cheesecake to enjoy and lots of themed activities.

Hello June 😀 A new month of learning begins which means new topics to explore. This month we’re diving into baking, life cycles, new adventures, new books of the month, school readiness and summer! ☀️🌻

🐌We have had a very busy morning, we had the amazing Zoolab visiting us followed by our brilliant Coach Michelle for our weekly playball sessions. 🪲⚽️

Jack from Zoo lab brought some of his very cool animals for us to explore, touch, hold and learn about. Jack brought a giant African snail which we learnt had over 10 thousand teeth, a cockroach who tickled our hands and favourite food was smelly socks, a scorpion called Hank who changed colour when we put him under a special light, a tree frog which loved to climb and jump, his very friendly snake George and lastly two Gerbils called salt and pepper. 🐌🐍

We spoke lots about different habitats, foods that each animal liked, how to look after and we loved asking Jack lots of questions about his special animals!🪳

☀️Last week we took full advantage of the beautiful sunshine and headed out on different outings into our local community. Toddlers took a trip to the local green to explore their environment and see what flowers, trees, sticks and wildlife they could spot for their birds nest project. 🌻
Pre-school also headed out to the local village as they explored their topic- people who help us. We walked past an array of shops and discussed their different job roles for example the pharmacy, butchers, barbers and opticians. The children had some great ideas of what aspire to be when they grow up. 👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏾‍⚕️
They also headed to the Library for their weekly book swap to read some stories and then bring back some new ones back to share with the rest of their peers at circle times. 📚
Both rooms have also headed up to our local grass bank to do some train spotting which was lots of fun, they was very impressed to see 3 trains passing us and had brilliant imagination of the different places they thought the trains were going to as well as talking about their own experiences of their travels. 🚂

Pre-School headed to the Library this afternoon to enjoy some quiet time with some special books. Once they had finished sharing stories together, the Librarian very kindly let us get creative with some colouring sheets.
We then discussed the library rules and selected 4 books to bring back to nursery to share with all of our friends and the Librarian reminded us to bring all 4 books back so then we could borrow some more on our next visit. What a lovely afternoon!

Under the Sea 🌊🐟🐡🐙 Pre-School have started their new monthly topic and have created some beautiful display boards and activities to support their new avenue of learning. They also chosen one of their favourite stories to be their book of the month! 😀

Our favourite type of delivery came this morning 😀📚following on from our sponsored read where our amazing families done lots of reading at home, using our lending library and spreading the love of reading we managed to raise lots of money for some new books for each room! Thankyou so much for your help 📚😀

🌻Learning Lab🌻 As the sun has began shining a little more now, Spencer has been busy setting up our allotment with the children. For our new learning lab topic, please help yourself to a sunflower seed in the reception area and take it home to see how tall it can grow! Please share your planting pictures so we can add them to our learning lab door!😀

Our first few days at testing out our new spring/summer menus, so far they have been a big thumbs up from the children! Spencer and Rob have been testing out new recipes to continue their healthy and nutritious meals and have also been trialling some dishes from our Monkey Puzzle Cookbook! 😀🍴

Discoverers have been enjoying the sunshine this afternoon whilst they took their tea outside and had an Italian style picnic with music! They had spent the morning being little Chef's with Spencer as they made their own calzones. They helped spencer mix the base mixture, then stir the puree base and then it was time for the best part... deciding which toppings they fancied.
