Today we wish our lovely deputy manager Alice off on the start of her maternity leave 👶🏼 you are going to be the best mummy and we can’t wait to welcome your little one in to the Monkey Puzzle Family. Enjoy every moment of your special next chapter, we are all going to miss you lots ❤️❤️❤️

This week our new country to explore was… MEXICO 🇲🇽

🇲🇽 We decorated our own cactus ( and learnt that more than one cactus is called cacti) and looked at different locations and conditions they grew in.
🇲🇽 We listened to some Mexican music whilst shaking Maracas and dancing in our very own fiesta party!
🇲🇽 We made our own piñata which Mexican families use as a symbol of joy and unity and is an important tradition, we took it in turns to hit it to see what we could find inside!
🇲🇽 Lastly we had tacos for tea! The children helped to prepare all the salad ingredients ready for their tea and done a great job trying to wrap their soft shells like a traditional looking taco!

Welcome to Italy 🇮🇹
Preschool have loved choosing a different country every week to explore. This weeks chosen country was Italy and activities for Italy consisted of…
🇮🇹 Pizza making! The children were independent with spreading the tomato puree and chopping and adding their own toppings. They also ate their pizza's for tea!
🇮🇹 carving their own pasta shapes using the playdough. As well as pizza, Italians love making fresh pasta!
🇮🇹 volcanoes! Preschool learnt that in Italy they have active volcanoes. We saw a short clip of a real life volcano erupting and the children painted their own, we had lots of discussions with new key words such as lava, volcanic gases and ash.
🇮🇹 luxury cars - Italy is known for their choice of luxury cars such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. We decided to design our own luxury cars using marking making tools then went on to do some junk modelling!

Lastly the children learnt about the Leaning tower of Pisa and learnt some basic Italian words such as Ciao and Buongiorno! (Hello and good morning) What a fun day!

Preschool have spent the day exploring a new country... Japan!
Whilst learning about Japan…
🇯🇵 We made our own cherry blossom trees and learnt how in Japan they symbolise new beginnings.
🇯🇵 We learnt how to use chopsticks using our fine motor skills to role play with noodles.
🇯🇵 We made our own Japanese hand fans to keep cool!
🇯🇵 We attempted to make our own yummy sushi using cucumber and tuna!
🇯🇵 Finally, we attempted to copy some Japanese writing using cotton buds.

⚽️Sports day 2026!! 🏃🏽

We had a beautiful day enjoying the sunshine, we started our morning off with our youngers room exploring a stay and play sports day session with their parents. We had lots of activities to enjoy such as hook a duck, bean bag tossing, bowling, designing medals and splashing in the paddling pools.

Toddlers and Pre-School then set up for their afternoon session filled with running races, sac racing, balloon popping and bike rides followed by oranges and ice creams to keep cool. They done amazing with their races!

🇬🇷This week, the children have been learning about Greece! 🇬🇷

We made a Greek salad that consisted of lots of tomatoes and feta cheese. The children learnt that feta is made from goats milk! We even tried some olives! They enjoyed their Greek salad at tea time with some hummus, tzatziki dip, pitta bread and home made croutons!
We added in some literacy to our learning today too where the children attempted to write some letters in Greek.
Another activity the children explorered was looking at some Ancient Greek pottery and designed their own pots!
The children also made their own headbands made of leaves just like the Greek gods would wear!

What a wonderful day filled with Greek learning.

🐢We had two very special visitors join us for a day of fun at Nursery! Sasha very kindly brought in her pet tortoises Jimmy and Tallulah for us to play with and we learnt some very cool facts about them and how Sasha looks after them at home. 🐢

We hope they come for another visit very soon!

Learning math in early year childhood lays the foundation for cognitive development, critical thinking, problem solving and creates a positive attitude towards mathematics. 😀 Our home learning bags have been added to in the hallway to introduce some early maths for all ages at home to share together. We still have our literacy area as well as support bags through milestones such as potty training etc and some helpful books to support e safety and oral hygiene. Please do help yourself to these resources and let us know if you would like any further info! 😀
