There was actually no paint or pens at art club this week! Instead we created with jewellery wire and card after looking at the kinetic sculptures made by Alexander Calder. The club loved experimenting with bending the wire into different shapes. One of the art explorers told me she would cherish her mobile for the rest of her life, which truly made my day!

We’ve been focusing in pointillism this week, after looking at Seurat’s mark making and colour theory the art explorers created their own landscapes. I think they look fantastic.

Fantastic models of soft toys from the art explorers that I have just realised I forgot to post from last term.

We took our drawing outside today, made view finders and sketched in the sunshine! I forgot to take many photos but here’s a few.

The cuddly toys had an outing to art club! We focused on observational drawing, using a range of techniques, some with no rubber allowed! This was very popular and there have been requests to make the toys into clay models so watch this space.

Marten Jansen inspired abstract expressionism…with a choice of self portrait or dog portrait. All look fabulous but a big well done to all those giving the trickier self portrait ( drawing from looking in a mirror a go, as it’s hard!)

This art project was inspired by looking at Turner’s sea paintings ( of which there are many) and then creating our own 3d seascape. The art explorers got really involved in painting the boxes, creating waves and making boats. There is a very good Turner exhibition currently on at the Tate Britain plus loads of seascape Turners in the permanent collection ( which you can see for free).
