Here we are looking at /er/ sounds- ir , ur and er. Everyone loves the coloured pens 😍

Today we sorted words according to their spelling rule.

Pink - multi syllable word ending in /ik/ sound then we spell with IC.

Blue - FLOSS rule - 1 syllable word + 1 short vowel sound + immediately followed and ending in F, L, S, Z then we double the final consonant.

Turquoise- 1 syllable word + 1 short vowel sound immediately followed by /ch/ then we use TCH, otherwise we use CH.

Here we are building words. We started with the base word SNAP, then added the prefix UN and the suffix ED. We used our method to see if it needed a double P. Count from the vowel in SNAP to the end of the word and say "1, 2 then double I do". If it didn't need to be doubled we would say, "1, 2, 3 then no doubling for me!"

This students loves to colour coordinate her editing! 😍 Here we have been working on contractions.

This student always has a teddy bear to help in our lessons! Here were were taking about Care-bear being a compound word and how a plural word can sound like it is ending in a /s/ or /z/ sound.
