✨ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT ✨

Can we just take a second to appreciate the effort that went into these 4x table and 6x table posters that one of my wonderful Primary level students did?! Not only did this student do their regular homework, but they also put in extra work to learn their four times table and I am so proud!
This week they even got 10/10 in their tables test! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Exceptional work! And who says you can’t get creative with maths?! 🎨 🧑‍🎨

Well done again to this student, and let’s continue to take pride in our work this year! ✨

*not that I need to ask, but please do not comment highlighting mistakes - SPaG and numerical errors were talked about in our sessions. We all make mistakes, we’re only human! 🙏🏻

✨ GET TO KNOW ME PT 2 ✨

In the last get to know me post, I showed you a more personal, quirky, side of me and the things I like to do when I’m not working. However today I’d like to share more about what makes me qualified and suitable to be your maths tutor!

👩‍🎓 I’ve not only graduated uni once, but twice! I worked hard to achieve a first class mathematics degree with honours, and my final year project was on the effectiveness of a mastery style curriculum on secondary mathematics students and was graded over 90%! Straight after this I jumped into a teaching qualification, a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, and secured myself a teaching position at my brilliant placement school! 🏫

👩‍🏫 After graduating I got straight to work as a Maths Teacher, gained my QTS (qualified teacher status), and never looked back! I loved my job teaching in schools, and I feel that I was well liked and respected by my students. During my teaching career I taught the widest variety of students, with different abilities and needs, from year 7 to 11. I also taught during the Covid-19 pandemic and learned so much about virtual learning. I utilised my time working from home to develop my communication skills with parents/guardians of my students, and complete many CPD (continued professional development) courses and certificates (including but not limited to: special educational needs and mental health, best teaching practice, and mathematical methods & concepts throughout the curriculum). I was lucky enough last year to be accepted on to and complete a Middle Leadership Course too. 🙌🏻

🏡 I then relocated back to our home county of Kent, so I sadly left my teaching career in Hampshire. This was emotional as I was fortunate to work with the most amazing teachers, support staff and students, and progress so much. BUT as I have been tutoring maths GCSE content since I was 16 years old, I thought this relocation was the best time to start Mrs Jones Maths Tutoring and help as many people as I humanly possibly can! We’re going to grow so much this year! 🙌🏻

Feel free to DM me if you want to know more about what makes me the best choice as your maths tutor!

Hi, if you’re new here, I’m Lizzie aka Mrs Jones - your magical new maths tutor 🙋🏻‍♀️

But I’m not here to talk about maths right now, I’m here to tell you some tidbits about me! If you want to know more about my qualifications and experience, check out my first ever post or my website (and I’ll go into that more in Part 2), but for now here’s some fun facts about me and my life:

⚓️ I grew up in Kent, moved to Portsmouth when I was 18 years old and I’ve only just moved back after being away for over 8 years! I’ve been on a lot of adventures, but it’s good to be home.

🐾 I have two adorable french bulldogs called Bellatrix and Neville, and they just love to cause mischief and mayhem around our house! They also love to snuggle and fall asleep on my lap. 🥹

🏋️‍♀️ I’m pretty passionate about exercise and strength training. A few years ago I held multiple British Powerlifting titles and records, and even got to represent Great Britain internationally. It was an incredible experience that I’m really grateful for, and I can’t wait to get even stronger in the future!

🦸‍♀️ 🦸‍♂️ I consider myself a huge nerd, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Star Wars. I even had an Avengers themed wedding cake, and right now I’m obsessed with Star Wars Lego

🎮 I also love gaming and play on PC, Xbox & Nintendo Switch! Some of my favourite games include: Animal Crossing, MarioKart, The Sims, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and Spyro 🐉

There’s so much more I could go on about, and I’m sure I’ll do further updates as more friends join us here. If you want to know more, be sure to follow and I’ll post a Part 2 next week 🙌🏻

If you’ve read this far, thank you, and don’t forget that if you sign up now to start in-person or online tutoring in the new year you get 20% off forever! That’s 20% off of our price, of every session, forever!
