A thought-provoking afternoon at Giggleswick last week as we welcomed back former pupil John Flint CBE (Morrison 1986) to deliver the latest Sir Douglas Glover Memorial Lecture.
In 'Fulfilling Your Potential for Leadership', John drew on his remarkable career in global finance and public service to share some honest and very practical reflections on what makes a good leader.
John struck exactly the right tone for our pupils, while keeping the talk engaging and relevant for the parents and OGs in the audience. John encouraged pupils to have the confidence to step into the arena – to get involved, put themselves forward and accept that things will not always go perfectly. He explored the power of stories, the importance of showing your working and being thoughtful about whose feedback you choose to listen to.
His openness about his own experience, including the things that haven't always gone to plan, made the talk particularly engaging and relatable.
We hope his insights will inspire many of our pupils to think about their own potential for leadership and encourage all of us to reflect on how we can become better leaders in our own lives.
A huge thank you to John for returning to Giggleswick and sharing his experience, wisdom and time with us. It was wonderful to have you back.
